I just got off the phone with my Mother. We were discussing plans for Easter and other travel plans and this is what transpired.
Me: Are you sure you want to possibly give up Easter because Vinny pointed out that you made it a big deal to him.
Mom: I did?
Me: Yes.
Mom: Oh. Well last year is was a big deal because you guys came down for the weekend and we had baskets and you went to Church and it was all really nice and really special. And I think that it was a big deal because Nana made it a big deal. Well, Nana made everything a big deal. She made Arbor Day a big deal.
Me: Yes, she did.
Mom: So, Katie, I'm so tired.
Me: Ma, it's okay. We can see about the city that weekend.
Mom: I mean I woke up at 4 in the morning today thinking I need to find my song.
Me: You're song?
Mom: Yes, my song. I saw on the news this past Sunday this woman, I think she was a doctor, and she was saying that everyone needs to have a song. You know, to pick you up when you're down. That sort of thing.
Me: I see.
Mom: And it got me to thinking about the Fraggles.
Me: The Fraggles?
Mom: Oh yes! Don’t you remember when they did that?
Me: Did what?
Mom: Find their song! They had to find their song to lead the other songs.
Me: …
Mom: So the Gay Vermonters want me to come to their meeting.
Me: Because of me?
Mom: No… This guy called me. And Daddy said that I got a letter from them. It was addressed to me and Kathleen Kelly.
Me: Who is Kathleen Kelly?
Mom: I dunno. I think it's like an HMO. When you don't assign a PCP you get one assigned to you. I think they assigned me a partner.
Me: Have you told that you aren't gay?
Mom: Well no, I still want to get their emails.
Me: … Mom, you realize that this has NOTHING to do with Easter right?
Mom: Yeah, but I thought you needed to know.
