"It's a perfectly perfect word as many words go but the bother is nothing rhymes, you see."

The article I just posted is interesting to read. (reposting in case someone wants to read it and skipped it before: http://metromix.chicagotribune.com/movies/mmx-0507190293jul20,0,2854456.story?coll=mmx-movies_heds) It goes on about how the movie (and later into how other forms of media (i.e.: TV) have influenced people on how the speak.

I mean it makes a lot of sense. How many times have you heard me say, “Muchly” (reference BtVS) or “This is pleasing to me” (ref: AtS)? Yes, it shows my… enthusiasm for both shows (and I’m sure that Firefly will be following suit shortly) but it really shows how much a certain way of speaking can affect a generation. Hell by me picking things up for just the way Joss Whedon writes (and I can only assume speaks) I have gotten other people to use the same word usage.

This of course amuses me to no end.

Hmm… now I’m going to be thinking all day of the slang and my word choices all day. Ooooh that’ll make the mound of paperwork now occupying my desk a little more tolerable.

Or not, who knows?

(And for those keeping score, yes the title of this post is a BtVS quote. In fact it's Spike from episode 5.7: “Fools For Love”. Yes, I know I’m a little scary. Bugger off.)
