Dancing the dance of the computermancer
So... If I'm not around quite so much in the near future, it's because I've picked up some extra part-time work from Relly's uncle -- hey money money!
It's really interesting stuff, too, and it's right up my alley, and it's a contract job for Intel, which is pretty damn spiffy! Maybe I'll flip over and work for him full-time in the future? He's going to pay me more than I'm making, but he's not offering any benefits... What to do? He, uh, can also be condescending as all fuck. We'll see how much of that I can stand. :)
I've been going over to his house after work in the evenings for a few hours, because he has. Um. Usable computers. He'd like me to be doing most of the work from home, but... Well, during the day I'm working from home using Remote Desktop -- there's a puter in the office in Cleveland that's just mine, and I connect to it from here. I wouldn't want to upload R!Uncle's stuff to that computer, and my home computer. Well. To do this right, I'd need a reasonably fast computer with Visual Studio.Net 2003 and SQL Server. What I've got is a 166MHz shitkicker. Works great for what I use it for. But for real programming on the machine itself? Uh-uh.
Need a new computer. Can't afford one. *kicks things* We'll see what happens.
