Sometimes the best innovations come from people who haven't been taught what's impossible.
A few years ago I would have assumed it was impossible to become an extrovert, yet I seem to be making progress in that area. This makes me wonder about other things about myself that I've assumed were "impossible" to change.
I've decided, for instance, that I'm tired of thinking of myself as a Beta Male. It's an assumption I've had for years, mostly due to a bad case of social awkwardness, and I'm more than tired of it. It's too limiting. As someone told me a while back, there are the limits you think you have and then there are your real limits, but you can't know which kind you're dealing with until you actually try to go past 'em.
I have absolutely no desire to become the assholes that most Alpha males seem to be, but if I'm actually able to make progress in this I expect I'll be a much more balanced individual...
