I just watched the Doctor Who episodes "The Waters of Mars" and "The End of Time, Part One" (many thanks to BBC America and friends with cable).  Major spoilers ahead for both.

SQUEEEEEEE!!!! *flail*

WHAT WAS THAT?!
Anyway, now that I've got that out of my system:

The Waters of Mars

Wow.  Doctor, stop it, you're being creepy.  This episode feels similar to "Fires of Pompeii" in its theme for more than half of it, but the twist of the Doctor realizing that there is another side to him being the last of his kind makes it very different from any other episode of the new series.  Watch out everyone, the Doctor has finally snapped.  He succeeds in saving the last few humans on the doomed base, but that's somehow wrong, because now he thinks he's invincible and unstoppable.  Not good.  The moment in which he casually unlocked the door to Adelaide's house using the sonic screwdriver seemed really creepy to me.  (By the way, Adelaide was awesome.)  Fortunately, he seemed to realize that he had messed up at the end.  Too bad it took Adelaide committing suicide to show him that.  This was a really dark episode, especially because of the Doctor.  I really liked the music, particularly at the end, and I hope that a future soundtrack includes score from these specials.  David Tennant was amazing throughout, but especially at the end.  Overall a great episode, in my opinion.

The End of Time, Part One

First, a note:  I had mostly avoided spoilers for this episode and am still avoiding spoilers for the one the follows.  I was able to be surprised for most of this episode.  Please, if you decide to comment, DON'T TELL ME SPOILERY STUFF ABOUT PART TWO.  Thank you.

I'm not sure how much I like this episode, because I'm still reeling from watching it, and because it's only part of the story, but here are some ramblings.

Alright, so we start off with a dramatic voice-over, and now we're looking at crowds in London at Christmas, where the residents have evidently decided to not evacuate, despite the events of the past few Christmases.

Hey look, it's Wilf!  Hi, Wilf!  Wilf's awesome.  Everyone's having creepy dreams.

Time for the opening credits!  (The second-to-last time with Tennant's name. *sniff*) Wait, John Simm is listed second, in the usual companion spot?  Bernard Cribbins gets an "and" in front of his name?  Cool!

Creepy-trying-to-hard-to-be-funny Doctor is kind of creepy.  Yay for Ood!  I liked the mind-melding thing.

Yay, Lucy Saxon!  Look, it's the Master!

The Master, now crazier than ever, has come back, but something went wrong, so now he has jump super-high and zap people somehow, in addition to having incredible hunger and flashing into a weird skeletal outline of himself.  Which is really creepy, as humans apparently aren't off the menu.

DONNA!!!

There are some light moments in this episode, but it's really emotional, not surprisingly.  There is a beautiful scene with Wilf and the Doctor in a cafe, where they talk about what's happened since they last met.  The Doctor opens up to Wilf about being told he'll die, and how he now travels alone and has messed up because of it.  Wilf points out Donna outside the cafe, and asks the Doctor if he can figure something out to help her.  The Doctor is very upset that he can't.  He asks about how Donna's life is now, and if she's happy.  This is very emotional for both him and Wilf.  (I admit it; I cried.  Donna!)

I loved the scenes between the Doctor and the Master.  Apparently, whatever went wrong when the Master was brought back is destroying him.  The Doctor wants to help him, and also asks his assistance in stopping the 'End of Time' that the Ood saw and were concerned about.  The Master, however has other plans.  I like the interaction between Tennant and Simm, and both of them are amazing throughout this episode, especially Tennant.

Anyway, the Master's crazy plan is apparently successful, so that using strange alien tech he manages to turn every human on Earth except Donna and Wilf into a sort of duplicate of him.  The Doctor is far from pleased.  But wait!  All this weirdness has jogged Donna's memory!

But that's not all, says the dramatic voice-over from throughout the episode.  Oh, no.  Because now we get a full view of this mysterious narrator and some of his friends, and they're wearing some familiar-looking robes, and...

HOLY CRAP, THE TIME LORDS ARE BACK!!!
