Title: The Other Side of Us Author: random_nic Rating: PG-13 Disclaimer: ATWT characters are the property of Telenext and CBS. Word Count: 1400 Summary: Lives are changed in the wake of a traumatic event.
Noah's pain continues to break my heart. It's not even agonizing grief anymore, it's just a general depressive sense of life holding no excitement or promise whatsoever. But you've offered some early glimmers of light for him with Reid bringing (forcing) him to visit the family. It's an act of true friendship, though neither of them are explicitly using that language to describe their association yet.
Faith's disdainful reaction to Reid being at the house vs. her delighted reaction to Noah being there strikes me as completely realistic. I definitely think Luke's siblings would have been very "Umm, really?" where Reid was concerned, especially since they all saw Noah as a brother. At the same time, Emma's warm welcome of both men is completely in character for her.
I fear for Noah's involvement with Chris. He's so vulnerable and it seems as though Chris intends to take advantage of that to suit his own agenda.
Such a fantastic story! You putting out so many chapters in such rapid succession is making me feel like such a slacker for being so behind on updating either of my multi-chapters!
BTW, I kind of suspect it isn't even necessarily anything about Reid that bothers Faith. I don't think she'd ever witnessed his snark to have gotten offended by him. I just know from my own experiences, the whole family often gets attached to the first love - not just the person in the relationship. So when that family member moves on to a new relationship, the siblings often don't warm to the new guy very quickly, and I thought that felt right to include here.
Emma is always the best. I bemoan the show's failure to have her bond with Reid, just like I can't believe the show never had him go head-to-head with Lucinda. That woulda been epic!
As you've said, Noah is extremely vulnerable to Chris. He has no history of feeling wronged by him (unlike with Reid), and with the added arsenal of Luke's heart, Chris seems to have all the cards on his side. Except for the nagging little issue that no matter how much Reid pisses him off sometimes - Noah can't seem to not want to be around him.

I can't blame him. ;)
