Maybe it was a change in school board policy or something. They HAVE to follow changes in those rules. Even though the new rule is easier on students, it's probably just going to encourage laziness. I can see having some sort of middle ground, ie no marks taken off for the first 3 or so days, and then X % deducted for every day afterwards...

Now you can pretty much pass in an assignment whenever you want, without marks being taken off.
Thinking from the Teachers' point of view, I have No idea why they put that rule in place.
None of them seem to like it.
