LOL Cosplay at work

A co-worker reminded me on Tuesday that our office lets us dress up for Halloween; I had planned on wearing something simple in any case, since for whatever reason I'd forgotten people kind of got into it last year (kind of being your standard, halfhearted, easy outfits you can work all day in). It got me thinking of what I wanted to wear, and I remembered how I kind of wanted to cosplay the main character from our upcoming game, 999. Our former PR girl had said she'd found a puffy vest exactly like his in a store, so I pondered the idea that night. The next day after work, I went to Walmart, and in an hour I had found comparable clothing pieces that were pretty close. Yay for $10 clothing at Walmart.

With very minor alterations Thursday night (I was lazy, what can I say), I drove to work Friday morning hoping at least I looked enough like him that my co-workers could recognize me. As I walked up to the door, my boss' wife (she's kind of his assistant) was outside smoking. I said hi, and she started giggling, recognizing what I was wearing. Feeling a bit better, I stepped in the door, said good morning to our sales/receptionist Barbara, and some people turned to look. I made a silly joke - "Oh, this doesn't look like the right place... I should go back." - and everyone was kind of all "Junpei!" I think someone said "wow". lol They were pretty surprised.

One of our producers had brought his cosplay of Ace from when he wore it at AX for promotion stuff. I had kind of hoped he had. Our marketing girl was all PICTURES. AFTER LUNCH. So we went around to the warehouse side, popped on our game preorder watches that look exactly like the ones the characters wear in the game, and posed for some promotional/marketing pictures. We were about done, and heading outside for an office picture, when we learned that one of our translators had actually brought her June outfit from AX, but hadn't put it on. So she changed and we took a few more pictures (she's really shy about photos).

But yeah, have a couple pictures. I didn't pull everything I liked from our work drive, only a few to put up on Facebook. All taken with flash - I teased our camera operator on how she was obviously not professional - but I think they're fairly okay. I know not many will really recognize the outfits since it's not a well-known game, but if you played the demo or looked at the website, you might get a kick out of these. I'm definitely going to get a better wig next time; totally a stand-in (it's my old Haruhi wig from four years ago lol).

This last one no one will get until they play the game.

I have to admit, I do feel a bit Marty McFly in it, even if it is the wrong color. But maybe it's just me. XD
