The Azure Ray show the other night was freakin splendid. The girls put on an amazing show, as always. The only sucky thing is that they didn't play one song that I really wanted to hear. Oh well. They played it last time I saw them and I'm sure they'll play it again. Okkerville River was incredible. I had heard a couple of their songs before and thought they were ok, but live...wow. I loved it. The Elected also rocked my face off. I knew they would. One of the guys from that band, the same one that is also in Rilo Kiley, used to be on "Salute Your Shorts". He was the kid from new york...his name started with a P. I don't remember it though. Damnit.
Last night we practice with a drummer. That Lee kid. He's pretty good, but he's no Rajaan. Raj bailed on us cuz he didn't have enough time to devote himself to a full time project. Blah. I was getting frustrated last night cuz I'm so used to being able to read Rajaan's mind and we just connect. I don't have that with Lee yet and I hate it. It makes it so much harder. But, it was Lee's first practice, so I guess I'll cut him some slack. I'll have to see how he does when we're writing a new song. We just taught him the songs we already had done. They sound pretty damn good though. So that's a plus. I think we'll be playing shows really soon, and I'm so excited. We've got so many ideas for on-stage entertainment...fuzzy tv's and vintage lamps for lighting, porn/traumatic events playing on a back drop, blood capsules...we're going for a scary/creepy kind of thing that will make people feel uncomfortable, yet mesmerized. yes indeed.
