A Rant
I made the decision today that I can absolutely not stand one of my high school friends. She actually had the gall to say that a certain lifestyle (we were talking about Brokeback Mountain at the time, so Im sure you can guess what we were discussing) absolutely disgusts her. For her to say this just absolutely infuriated me for some reason. This is a girl who has probably never even met a gay person let alone had one for a friend. It just pisses me off.
We were driving down the road in Cincinnati and we passed this gorgeous church last week. I made the off hand comment that maybe I would get married there one day. My cousin then told me that I was not allowed to marry there because they are known for supporting gay issues and even have the balls to take part in a parade supporting gay rights. Needless to say I fucking flipped out.
This is the issue of our times. Its not abortion or taxes or the war in Iraq. The issue of our time is the fact that a huge chunk of the American public is ok with disinfranchising an entire portion of the US population. How is this possible in this day and age? We delude ourselves thinking we are the leading civilization on the planet. How can you be the leading civilization if you dont even let your citizens have the fundamental right of marrying whoever the god damn chose to.
And another thing. It pisses me off that other states dont recognize marriages of homosexual couples that happen in the few states that allow it. How fucking wrong is that? Can they drive in other states? YES But apparently fucking with a certificate along with it is just too far outside the realm of ok behavior to acknowledge.
And another thing. People who spout other peoples opinions without developing their own piss me off an incredible amount. Have one original thought in your head for gods sake. Eventually your gonna have to move out of mommy and daddy's house and be on your own. Its gonna suck if you cant think without someone feeding you thier opinions.
