Warped Tour 2007

Throw it away
Forget yesterday
Well make the great escape
We wont hear a word they say
They don't know us anyway
Watch it burn
Let it die
Cause we are finally free tonight

With a line-up of Boys Like Girls, Flogging Molly, Killswitch Engage, Escape the Fate, The Vincent Black Shadow, Family Force 5, My American Heart, New Found Glory, and As I Lay Dying who could deny going to Warped Tour held August 8, 2007 at the Post-Gazette Pavilion? Maddy went with me when I purchased the tickets for Josh and I while she also purchased one for herself. I woke up around 8:00 AM in order to get dressed and start walking to my mom's to not only pick up my brother but to also pick up the Dae-woo so that I could then pick up Maddy and head off towards Burgettstown. I had made it to Shields Church when Hayden passed me in his truck and offered me a ride into town to which I declined when my dad called and told me he was picking me up in the Lincoln and giving me a ride to the house of the mother-being. Luckily, Josh was awake and ready to go when I got there and same with Maddy. Once everyone was in the car, it was off to Sheetz to grab some Red Bull (courtesy of Josh) and some gas because I was basically on E then to the Post-Gazette Pavilion. We got there around 10:45 AM which wasn't too bad seeing that the gates didn't even open until 11:00 AM, but the line had already begun to form and was wrapping itself around the South entrance. Not even five minutes walking passed the beginning of the line did we run into Casey and Porter so we simply just stayed with them instead of going to the very back of the line (What can I say, we're lil' devils?).

Throughout the course of the day we ran into Jolyn, Scoot, Chicots, Carl, Laurel, Marril, Zeina, Adele, and Bartling. It wasn't until I was waiting in line to meet Flogging Molly did I run into Morgan and RJ who had just arrived around 4:45 PM. The stages were strewn about the Post-Gazette Pavilion and in particular order. You would think that the Hurley stage and the Hurley.com stage would be in the same vicinity, but no . . .Hurley.com was half of the main stage in the center of the Pavilion while the Hurley stage was over near the parking lot near the Lucky Stage and the #13 Stage. Josh split from us right from the get-go, so Maddy and I stayed together for atleast half of the day until Carl came and then it was off with Maddy and I was left alone to group jump. I saw the Vincent Black Shadow, As I Lay Dying (which I didn't pass out like I did at Ozzfest two years ago) where I not only moshed until my ribs hurt, but crowd-surfed once, and Killswitch Engage where I entered the 'Wall of Death' which made Josh jealous since he missed it completely stating that his only hope for another wall of death was at Underoath at the end of the day. I also caught Paramore, Boys Like Girls, The Unseen, Escape the Fate, Bayside, Coheed and Cambria (which I completely forgot what the lead singer looked like so I was not expecting that voice to come from that big of a man with that large of a 'fro), Bad Religion (Go Guitar Hero and Infected!), Monty Are I, The Spill Canvas, The Unseen, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Flogging Molly, and Underoath. Each one has a story and each was equally awesome in their own way.

I got to meet Escape the Fate after their performance which was amazing, they're from LA and La Guillotine is currently one of my favorites. I also got to meet My American Heart, Monty Are I, Bayside, As I Lay Dying, and the Unseen. At Flogging Molly I crowd-surfed to my favorite song "Seven-Deadly Sins" and got moshed and Irish-jigged by two very large men in kilts. But there is just something about an Irish group speaking with an accent and constantly saying 'bastards' that just makes me so very happy ^_^ I also was reminded that I despise flail-dancers with the firey passion of a thousand flaming suns thanks to As I Lay Dying.

I also participated in the Truth Warped Tour Dating game outside of their Truth truck where I got a free tank top for simply dancing with some random guy who I met at the truck. He was there to see Flogging Molly so he automatically got in my good graces not to mention he was kinda cute. The lady picked us out and said to exchange myspace links to which we both laughed and got our free shirts. My Boondock Saints shirt got many comments especially from the artists themselves because . . .well I'll be honest . . .it's a pretty kick ass movie. Maddy and I also hit up the Monster truck for our free Monsters only to be depressed later when, by 3:00 PM, they had run out of Monster. This was also about the time we ran into Crystal and chilled with her for a little while.

I ended up heading out early, well, before Underoath completely finished because I didn't want to get stuck in traffic, but it wasn't until I was out of the gates did I realized that I was also Maddy's ride home so I had to wait for her to find the car . . .at Maddy speed. I had run into Josh and Bartling as I was leaving the West Gate only to find out that Josh had his wallet stolen from him and that Bartling was giving him a ride home. I had finished an entire case of strawberries and very warm soda by the time that Maddy made it to the car and by that time traffic had backed itself up so there was no point in getting in the stifling Dae-Woo and waisting gas waiting. We just chilled outside the car watching some idiots playing hackeysack a good 15 feet away until the traffic cleared. We reinacted some comedic stand-up acts while working our way out of the parking lot and before I even knew it we were back in Robinson at a red light with a car of guys that we knew next to us (Scott from Ambridge being one of them). We had planned on going to Eat N Park for something to eat, but by the time I hit the boulevard, I was completely exhausted. I dropped Maddy off, dropped the Dae-Woo off and then proceeded to have my dad pick me up.

It was weird going to Warped Tour without Aimee this time, but atleast, unlike last year, I had someone else to go with for the most part until Carl came. I'm a concert fiend, I love them . . .and now can't wait until Projekt Revolution in Ohio. Maddy's coming with me . . .My Chemical Romance, MSI, HIM, Placebo . . .I can't wait *squee!*

Sail away with no ball and chain
Can keep us from the roarin' waves
Together undivided but forever we'll be free
So sail away aboard our rig
The moon is full and so are we
We're seven drunken pirates
We're the seven deadly sins

friends, strawberries, concert
