I had a really good day today, probably the best day I have had with my folks in a while. Well, we had the Colorado trip which was pretty cool, but I am talking about more of a home-turf thing.
Started off the day just lounging about and reading, waiting for my brother to wake up, but then my dad and I went out to the driving range so that he could teach me how to hit a golf ball. That was pretty darn fun; I am no longer dreading the day when Shawn practices with her new clubs and crags me along. I'm not so much on the power aspect, but I like using the irons fairly well. Yeah, so I am now bringing some clubs and a bag and other golfing paraphernalia back to Houston with me so I don't have to borrow too much. My dad happened to have some clubs that were way too short for him, and Stephen's golf bag is full of clubs that are too short for him, so it's my bag now. In addition to the fun of hitting the balls, I got a nice little blister on my thumb. Need to look into getting a glove for my right hand. Oh well.
After we got back from the driving range (oh yeah, my dad and some other guy got to push a lady's car from the road into a driveway while we were there, and that whole escapade was interesting), Stephen went with us to throw some baseballs. So, I threw a baseball and swung a bat for the first time in about 9 years (pretty sure that it's been 9 years, anyway). Wasn't too bad actually, but swinging a bat from the left-handed position doesn't feel right anymore. May need to practice some more. Thinking about trying to find some kids in Houston to play with in the park, either the kids of the people that I stayed with or kids of some of the people at the office. Dunno. It would be fun to get out more, and I can even pitch for someone else to have some batting practice (found that one out today, and I am much better than Stephen, not as good as my dad but better than Stephen).
Got to play cards tonight, and that was pretty fun, as always. The Ys came over, and Uncle Larry had lied to Aunt Sue, saying that my mother had told him that they'd better come with a dessert, when in fact she had told him that she would bake cookies or something. That was kind of amusing, but now we have more desserts, which is fine by me. They'll get eaten tomorrow anyway; we're having some kind of get-together for lunch.
Got a lot of sunshine. This weekend actually felt like a weekend. It was wonderful. And it's not even over yet. Yay!
