A Day In The Life

Thursdays are always rough at work because everyone panics that all the catastrophes won't be solved on Friday, so they try to solve them Thursday. Hence, today's mess. Four appointments with psychiatrists in different parts of the County all at the same time. Crap. Much creative traveling ensued. Oh, and while you're at it, do you think you could prevent one of your clients from becoming homeless today? Cuz she's going to lose her apartment on the first. Oh, today is the first? Oops. And much scrambling ensues to locate funds that don't exist to pay for an apartment that will be lost and has no power but can't we just find a way to pay for that too with the funds that don't exist?

Anyway.........

Got all the med snafus repaired and found a new apartment and new non-existent funds to pay for it with and prevented homelessness for three people today, actually. Cuz I RULE!!!!!!!!

And then I walk back into work to hold the change-of-shift meeting. And we have settled all the crises, right? I can go to my other job now, right? Oh, the police are on the phone? Cuz one of the clients went for a walk and slit her wrists? And they just want us to know which hospital she's going to be at? How nice of them. Guess I'm not leaving yet.

I keep waiting for someone to say April Fool's... but it's not happening. Cuz this is a typical Thursday.

I'm tired.
