Impending

Too many voices today. Too many voices.

The Voice is Hate.
Invincible.
Empty.
Incomplete.
The Voice cries.
Changed.
Born.
Whole.
The Voice distorts the Truth.

The Power is Love.
Infinite.
Wild.
Wounded.
The Power feels.
Remembered.
Focused.
Healed.
The Power pursues the Voice.

The Truth is Pain.
Wise.
Alone.
Divided.
The Truth discovers.
Expanded.
Found.
Fused.
The Truth awakens the Power.

Kal-ron: His former master, since enemy, now caretaker. What delicious irony had painted his world. Exiled from his own, stricken with illness, Coren knew he should have been dead. But, he had awakened from his grave to find himself in the arms of his enemy once again. Only this time it was different. Kal appeared to have had a change of heart, or so he claimed. He wanted to make things right. He wanted to atone for his past. Or, perhaps simply assuage his own guilt, assuming he even felt guilt. Coren doubted that this man was capable of any feeling whatsoever. But, he was certainly putting on a good act. Tending to Coren's every wish, giving him free range of the palace.

But, obsession is obsession. And Coren could still see it in the man's eyes. Could still sense it in his touch. Could still hear it in the quickening of his breath. A barely contained longing lurking beneath Kal-ron's sad smile. A longing that Coren knew well, for it looked back at him from the mirror every day.

Conversion Disorder: Subtype Seizures
  • The patient has one or more symptoms or deficits affecting the senses or voluntary movement that suggest a neurological or general medical disorder.
  • The onset or worsening of the symptoms was preceded by conflicts or stressors in the patient's life.
  • The symptom is not faked or produced intentionally.
  • The symptom cannot be fully explained as the result of a general medical disorder, substance intake, or a behavior related to the patient's culture.
  • The symptom is severe enough to interfere with the patient's schooling, employment, or social relationships, or is serious enough to require a medical evaluation.
  • The symptom is not limited to pain or sexual dysfunction, does not occur only in the context of somatization disorder, and is not better accounted for by another mental disorder.

My brother, Coren, hasn't left his room in a month. His wife didn't tell anyone for a month. Her family wants them to move in with them in another state. This would mean he quits his job and they have no medical insurance. They have two children and she is pregnant with a third. My father is staying with them for the next month. Coren seems remarkably better suddenly. His wife thinks he's cured. Her family still wants them to move. There are too many layers to this situation that I can't see or sort.

Coren is at war with himself and his anxiety. He feels overwhelmed and alone without his extended family there with him. Which means he feels alone in his own home with his own family. Yvonne feels overwhelmed and unsupported and taken for granted and fed up. Yvonne always says everything is fine. Yvonne doesn't speak up when she's unhappy or disagrees.

The family is telling both of them what to do. Neither of them are telling each other what they need.

I think I need to go up there when Silvarin leaves.
