ain't that a bitch.

I can understand the hostility but it just shows that people don't understand why those scholarships are there. It's not anti-white. They're established to help groups that have/are having hard times. Scholarships and cultural programs help integrate groups. Shit like this scholarship shows that it's just going ot be harder for those groups to be integrated.

would it not be easier to integrate purely on merit and need as ooposed to need and race?

see there. You don't get it. Yes that'd be nice. However there are so many obstacles to that. Obstacles based on gender, ethnicity, etc... In order to get those people around those obstacles you have these organizations. You can say it's unfair but that would be ignoring that most of the time it's unfair to not be white in this country.

Pulling the reality card, eh. This reminds of Claunch's argument in Urban Issues. I'd go more into it, but I'm having to debate this also with my mom on the phone...and she's making some racist remarks. I don't like that.

Are you saying that companies and university would still rather hire or enroll tall, white males as a majority if only that pesky federal government would get out of their way?

I'm saying university life will be easier for the white people.

however, I do disagree with that statement in general. I believe it depends on the environment of the university, you would have a hard time convincing me that a white person would have an easier time an University of a Ton of Asians up there with you :-)

opinion. It's still a university system which almost always means it's a good ole boy system. Which means it's not good to be different

I don't qualify, grrh. Eh. I found it amusing. We discussed it Sunday in the Pine Log when we recieved the article. I wish we would get W.E.T. on TV. You'd like it.

But in all actuality, jokes aside, I wish we would convert to the merit system and do away with race. Usually when I write, my characters are color blind. They can be whatever. I envision hispanic, but I don't say that. Did you see that in Righteousness?

If this is awkward, it's because I'm multi-tasking.
