I apologize for taking so long to write to all of you; this last week has been a bit crazy. I've been doing some heavy job hunting here in the Austin area with some success. Last Thursday (4/21) I received a phone call right before I was heading out to my current job from the Texas State Court of Criminal Appeals. During this phone call an interview was established for this past Tuesday (4/26). However, when I got to work that day, right before I left for my lunch break, my manager and the owner of the store called my into the office and asked me if I had been job hunting. I told them yes and they said that they had figured as much because the owner had received a phone call for a reference from the court of criminal appeals. After this the owner told me that he was going to need someone more dedicated to the job (an $10/hr job that is) and someone who he was not going to be wasting his time on training; so he gave me my two week notice. According to him he gave me a great reference, but still, I'd prefer the little bit of job security that I had before.
Anyways, the interview was yesterday and it went great. I was caught off guard when I first walked into the room because during this entire process I had only been speaking to one individual but when I stepped into the room there were five people staring at me. This made me a little anxious for a bit but not long enough for any of them to be able to tell (perhaps those four years in SFA theatre finally paid off). Once I sat down and internally braced myself for answering questions coming from all sides the rest of the interview went smoothly. I was able to answer all of their questions and assure them that I would be capable of fulfilling all of the responsibilities the job entailed; all the while making them laugh while I did this. Towards the end of the interview they began to describe the job to me in a way that felt like they were offering me the position but of course they summed it all up by saying "this is if we offer you the job, of course". I think the most reassuring moment of the interview though was when they all realized that the interview had gone fifteen minutes longer than it was supposed to and that the next person who was to be interviewed for the same position had been sitting in the lobby for that fifteen minutes. The only part of the entire process that I am even concerned with is that when that asked me if I had any practical or real world experience in law I of course had to tell them that I did not. This concerns me, but I'm hoping that since this is pretty much an entry level position that this will not be too much of a negative in my consideration. However, just because this interview went well I have not halted the job hunt; seeing how I don't actually have the job yet I figured that it would be best to continue.
I will try to keep all of you up to date as best as possible, but you all know that I'm horrible at typing in this thing.
