drea's visit!

Mar 16, 2006 00:40

well hello! last weekend was lots of fun! why? cuz drea was in town!!! woohoo! :o)

sat. she and i went to spiral diner in ft. worth and it was yuuuuuuuuuuuuuummy! i got the jamaican jerk sandwich which is a sandwich made with tempeh and topped with jamaican BBQ sauce and slice of pineapple- it was really good Po: drea got a seitan BBQ sandwich which she said was really good also :o) im definitely gonna need to go there more often now that i know where it is. after hanging out there for quite some time we came back to my place.

we wanted to cook dinner so we looked through a ton of cookbooks that i had. we decided we wanted to make a curry but all the recipes we found required ingredients we didnt have so we just made something up! to my surprise it was really good! we put potatoes, carrots, chickpeas and a little bit of onion into a pot with a bunch of spices and turned out really well. it was even spicy! ive tried many times to make middle eastern/indian food that is actually spicy and it never worked until that curry! so we were really happy :o)

we just ate, hung out, and watched a bunch of wedding shows on the style network. i guess it was like a wedding marathon lol one show was all about wedding cakes and they had some AMAZING cakes on there! some were like 10 feet tall and completely covered in hand-made sugar flowers that looked real! there was this one baker on there that had these crazy glasses on! andrea and i thought that maybe she was just being funny but then we realized they were her real glasses! i couldnt believe it! lol they were like the glasses that that old lady used to wear in those old navy commercials. huge, round, with really really thick black frames. it was insane! i would not be able to take her seriously if she were my cake baker lol

on sunday- andrea hung out with her family and my dad took me to this puppy show at the elk's club! the akc was selling a bunch of puppies up there and i just had to go see them! :o) they had babypins lined up all around the ballroom with lots and lots of puppies inside! all kinds too! yorkies, pugs, chihuahuas, english bulldogs, pomeranians, bichon frise, brussels griffons, rottweilers, boxers, everything! and they were all soooo cuuuuute! i loved the pugs and the english bulldogs the most! i had actually never seen either of those kinds of puppies in person before. the pugs were so little and cute with there funny smushed faces :o) they were really hyper too! bouncing all over the place and licking you to death! lol but the english bulldog puppies were my absolute favorite! they were much calmer than all the little breeds (i guess cuz they grow up to be pretty calm, big dogs) but they were so sweet and snuggly!!!!! they only had two of them cuz i think they're kind of rare. they can only be born by c-section. that's also why they're so expensive. the puppies are never under $1000. but i love em so much! i think that's the kind of dog i eventually wanna get. i think jens like them too. he likes big dogs you can wrestle with. and while i dont want a big dog like a golden retreiver, i dont want a tiny dog either. i'd be too afraid of it getting hurt easily. english bulldogs are kind of in the middle. they're low to the ground but they're hefty. and CUUUUTE! lol :o) i just love smushed-faced dogs ;o) ok enough about puppies!!!

that night i went to eat at cosmic with justin and andrea and it was so great to go back there with freinds. it's such a cool atmosphere and such good food Po: after we ate we went to the mining company, which is a bar/club, then we stopped off at jr's but we didnt stay long. after that we headed over to s4 and got some drinks. we didnt go to the drag show though cuz they were having a pageant and it cost money to get in. the rest of the night we just danced off and on and it was really fun! :o) it's interesting how the club has changed over time, especially after the renovation- it's just a different type of crowd now. that also may be because it was sunday night. it's 18 and up on sun. nights so it's a younger crowd. i didnt see any older people. and there are lots of lesbians now too! lol after we were there for a few hours it started sprinkling outside so we decided to go. overall, it was a great night and im so glad we 3 got to hang out!

andrea just hung out with her family the next couple days i think and she left on tues. to go back to austin. ive just been hanging out with jens and working nights. his parents got back from scotland today and they brought him back a hat that's just like the one he bought over there in 2003 that was stolen sometime last year at a bar lol he was so excited! he's been looking for a hat like that ever since it was stolen! so i was happy for him :o)

he got some other good news also! as you know, he lost his job last month and he's been looking for a new one almost everyday since. he's only gotten one interview - the one in san antonio- so he decided to apply for unemployment to stay afloat until he figures out what to do. well he found out today that it went through! im so happy for him cuz we were really worried about what he was gonna do- having the apt. and the wedding coming up and everything. unemployment will really help! :o)

as for what we're gonna do- if he doesn't get the job in san antonio we've seriously been thinking about teaching english abroad. he's applied for all the jobs he could find online that he's qualified for and he cant find any others so that prompted him to look into other options. we were kind of regretting not going ahead and applying to teach english in france but then we remembered that we would have had to have had money in the first place to fly over there and for the first month or so's living expenses- not to mention the fact that we'd have to find our own apt., etc. but jens discovered that teaching in an asian country, such as korea, has many more benefits. they pay for your airfare to get there and back, they find and pay for your apt., you get paid vacation, they pay much more monthly than the one in france does- like twice as much, and at the end of your contract they pay you an extra month's salary! it's awesome! so that's our fall-back option right now. it sounds crazy, i know, but it would be a really cool experience. we also know a girl who is doing it right now and she really likes it. we've been e-mailing her back and forth getting all the info we want/need. so we'll see what happens. i know that no matter what we do or where we live, i'll be happy because i'll be with jens :o)

alright, well that's all for now. goodnight!
