what a weekend. i love music. i really do. it's what makes my heart beat and i need it to survive. i just... i just love music. more than anything. all of it. all kinds. it's an amazing thing.
thursday --> stealing december at east end. scarey bouncer screaming at us when we walked in, delaware is so gay about underage kids in bars. creepy bands before hand. everyone coming out. seeing a lot of people i hadn't seen in a while. jess and i claimed front and center, duhh. its great singing & dancing with almost my entire group of friends here at school to songs that were written by BL. so happy for them. they were great, probably one of the best performances i've seen. i lovelovelove the new songs. afterwards jess and i got all sad that he's leaving us soon, haha.
friday --> i don't even know where to begin... i went home, got directions from my mom, & drove into brooklyn for the jade tree cmj showcase, alone. go me. it wasn't bad at all. but i will say that i am not a fan of the williamsburg bridge. they told me to get there really early but there was no need. tim brought me inside and showed me around while a lot of the bands were setting up.. and then darren was like, okay, they don't need us, lets get beer. we went outside and i met up with lindsay & nadja, lindsay btw is my new favorite person in the world. i cant believe she's only 18. we all went down to a bar and met up with a lot of the bands. my boss was buying lindsay and i drinks. jordan from snowden is the nicest guy ever. we hung out for like 2 hours and then went back to northsix. tim brought us right in and we got to cut the line, although they still checked our IDs and put Xs on our hands eventhough we were then taken right backstage and drank whatever we wanted haha. spent a large portion of the night backstage. more free beer. everyone was really nice. jordan is hysterical. i got to meet david bazan<3. i think i was kinda seen as, "the other intern" but it don't really care. i had so much fun. everyone performed REALLY well too. panda & angels new stuff sounds great. david bazan did my favorite pedro songs and was hysterical inbetween. snowden are amazing<3. i was never a big these arms fan but they blew me away, they were fantastic.absolutely amazing. new mexican disaster squad was really good too. i don't even remember anything else, but i really enjoyed friday night.
saturday --> yet another phenomenal cmj showcase. i wasn't expecting to enjoy myself quite as much as i did. i met up with jackie in penn station, we took the subway down to allison's apartment to meet up with her, got some felafel and hung out for a bit. i love those girls. i love the knitting factory. the set up of the showcase we done real well, using the main stage and the downstairs room. colour revolt were great, they played some new songs that i'm really excited to hear recorded. i can't believe they didn't play circus though, i don't think i'll get over that. the highlight of the night had to be chris conely acoustic. it was quite possibly the best set he could have played for that short of a time frame. the fact that he opened with "jessie & my whetstone" and then "sell my old clothes, i'm off to heaven" literally made my heart jump, seriously, best way to open that show by far. i was completely brought back to freshman/sophomore year of highschool for 45 minutes. jesse lacey really said it best in california, "how timeless their music is". if emily was with me she would have died. i regained all faith i had lost in him. wow. so much old stuff, and he took so many requests. i really can't explain how much i enjoyed it. i love saves the day so much. it was adorable watching john nolan sing along, i think he was loving it as much as i was. he came out and stood pretty much in between jackie and i, almost unnoticed by the people around us. and then straylight of course was great. good to see the nolans are still alive.
sunday i did some things at home, and had an early dinner with my momma before i came back to school. this weeks been a bit crazy, i'm glad its almost the weekend. jess and i are trying to perform a secret mission tomorrow and surprise rockstar. i'm sad he's leaving soon. i barely get to hang out with him anymore. i'm being a good friend and lending him my digital video camera so he can document the tour. okay i have to get ready to go to jade tree. pictures are going to be posted later, get excited!! haha (does anyone read this anymore though?)
i miss emily like crazy. its been weeks since we've been able to have a legitimate conversation. i can't wait till the 3 of us can hang out like normal over thanksgiving.
i don't want monday to come. i can't decide if i'm going to stay here or not.
i can't believe its almost been three whole years. :(
