Jigsaws

My New Year's Eve fun this year was a puzzle, which is what my brother, my mom, and I used to do back when it was an accomplishment for my brother and I to stay up until midnight (yes, at some point in my life, I had trouble staying up until midnight). Anyway, since I wasn't exactly equipped to do anything else this year, my mom and I decided to do a puzzle. She then promptly fell asleep on the floor, leaving me to periodically yell at her, and to do the puzzle myself. I've since gotten more help from friends who've come over for poker nights and such, but we're still trying to get it finished (it's 1000 pieces, and much of it is the same color). I worked on it for over two hours today while listening to musicals, and I'm finally seeing the end in sight, as I've only got the parts that are all one color with no texture left.

It's a very strange puzzle. It's got Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Humphrey Bogart, and Elvis all in a cafe. James Dean is behind the counter, Marilyn's got a telephone in her hand and is wearing a bright pink dress (the first part that was finished...the pink was easy to pick out), Elvis is drinking a Mountain Dew, and Bogie is reading a newspaper whose headline is "JFK Jr., Wife feared dead." All in all, it doesn't make sense in any timeline I know.

Anyway, the most exciting thing happening in my life right now happens to be the puzzle I'm working on, so there we go.

Beth, I'm also reading Someplace to Be Flying, on your indirect recommendation. :)
