One of the most interesting parts of this whole episode is getting to talk to/see people with whom I'd completely lost touch somehow or other. I just got off the phone with a teacher I had in high school who I never thought I'd see again (she changed schools after I had her), and two days ago I had a visit by a friend in high school that I'd totally lost touch with. That doesn't include the cards from people I really haven't spoken with for several years, and several of them are people who were in my high school class but I barely spoke to even then. It's a very interesting phenomenon. I'm almost grateful I got hurt because it's giving me the chance to find all these connections that I thought were completely severed.
