Hmm. My uncle has given me money over the summer when I've needed it, and when I offered to pay him back, he got all growly and told me to stop.

Diane let me borrow some money, but I paid her back for that as soon as I got my first big paycheck.

Frank (my mom's husband) lent me money back when I was married to Lauren, and I was going to (finally) pay him in full for that when I got my first big paycheck, but now I don't know how to reach him.

Yes, people have lent me money when I was in need. People have helped me in many ways. I am very grateful for the help I've gotten. I certainly would be dead in a ditch somewhere if I hadn't gotten help this summer.

But still. M. is a user. She's used me in the past. She pledged her eternal love to me several times in hopes that I would take her out to eat and buy her gifts, and then she would dump me in favor of her latest soldier of the week. I can tell she's starting to take this approach again. She talks about how much fun we used to have together, how she doesn't want to sleep around anymore, instead wanting a real man, etc.

It's all part of her ploy to get money out of me.

Maybe I'm judging her too harshly. I guess I'm just tired of being a sucker.

Well, it is good to have people to depend on when you are in need. You either repaid or tried to repay all the people who helped you. That is way different than someone just using and abusing. Sometimes under certain circumstances you just have to watch out for yourself.
