This weekend and next, Playhouse in the Park in Murray, Kentucky, is going to be showing The Hobbit.
I really want to go. I love all things Tolkien, and, even though it is an amateur production involving a bunch of middle school and junior high kids, I think it would be a blast.
There is, however, a problem. (Isn't there always?)
Wynne Dawson is on the cast list. For those of you who are new to the drama that was my life a year ago, Wynne is the daughter of Charlotte Dawson, the woman who broke my heart and ran off with my best friend Chuck.
If I go, therefore, I will have to risk running into Charlotte and/or Chuck, and I'll also have to deal with seeing Wynne, who I grew extremely close to during the year I lived in Murray with them. In many ways, I was closer to Wynne than I am to Tori, since I got to see her every day, help her with homework, watch movies with her, etc.
Tori and Wynne also grew quite close during that year, which made me so proud to have such remarkable young people in my life.
So, I'm faced with a choice. Should I go in the off-chance that I could have some fun despite the flood of memories that I'm sure will come, or should I just stay home and watch the animated version of The Hobbit on my laptop?
