The footage from the studio when the Oscar nomination became real, and live.

Oscar Nomination Announcements - Moonbot Studios from Moonbot Studios on Vimeo.

I really wish I was a part of that. A number of those people, I really care about, and I teared up watching it, and I feel a real connection to that announcement, but I wanted so badly to have been a part of that studio, for so long. I am sad to not have been there, but sadder still that I can't really share it.

Even when Joe and I talked shortly after this was taken and I gushed and laughingly said I by technicality was a part of the Oscar nomination, he just said "yes, you were a faux-finish-painter, this is YOUR Oscar TOO*" in a way that stung, but maybe only to me. I tire of being on the outside looking in-- watching this video from Brooklyn is the first time it's ever really been literal. But even if I were there, personally, I may have felt just as far outside. I still can be happy though. And I am. It's possible to be that, but also wish you were important as well, right?

*I painted the New Orleans sets and a bunch of props and faux-aged them
