Some Stuff About Me. Hooray.
Meme that deth_pinion and herbailiwick did. Be warned: I'm kind of boring, and maybe a bit TMI-ish at times.
1. When I was a little kid I had very serious ear problems. I would get infections twice a year and they eventually had to put tubes in my ears. I don't remember any of this, TBH, but my ears definitely still get buggy on me sometimes. ...And here I am seventeen years later listening to metal and techno. I'm sure they aren't happy with me.
2. I like playing video games, but I consider myself a casual gamer. I know many video game fans cringe and run away at that phrase, but I play games that interest me and I don't really stay that in touch with the industry...except for watching Yahtzee's reviews because that man is hilarious. Some of my favorite games are Portal, the Soul Calibur series (particularly II), Rule of Rose, The Ace Attorney series, Shadow of the Colossus and the Jak series.
3. I've been an anime fan for about ten years now. My first manga was Ranma 1/2 and my first anime series was I My Me! Strawberry Eggs, an anime about a man who cross-dresses to get a teaching job at an extremely sexist high school. Honestly, I love anime. I think it's a staple of the Japanese media and it helped me gain interest in Japanese language and Japanese culture in general. Nowadays when I talk about anime, though, I have my tongue pretty firmly embedded in my cheek. Half of it is schoolgirls, robots and porn (or schoolgirl robot porn) and the rest of it is good. Just like everything else in the world, anime is just as much fun to make fun of as it is to legitimately enjoy.
4. I'm not exactly what you'd call "antisocial." But I have a hard time connecting with people in real life. I'm bad at maintaining connections because I often second-guess myself on whether or not those people actually want to ever talk to or see me again. I still have some issues to work out, you see.
5. I love Yu-Gi-Oh! The Abridged Series. I haven't seen a single episode of Yu Gi Oh but I keep watching the series because it amuses me. I think the fact that Little Kuriboh has referenced about three shows on [adult swim], two of which I like, makes me feel better about being a fan with wide interests.
6. I'm only nineteen right now, and I have no interest in drinking or smoking. When I turn 21 I probably still won't be that interested in drinking. Just because I can do something doesn't mean I want to.
7. I hate the idea that women can't talk about their sexuality without seeming like sluts, unlike men. I also hate that there's a stigma that women can't talk about masturbation like men can (or that they just don't do it altogether).
8. I'm probably never going to have a solid relationship with my dad. We've been rocky since I was about 11 and some things about him just irritate me. In a similar vein...
9. I still can't get over my parents' tendency to hover about my grades when I was in middle and high school. Every time they ask about how I'm doing in class I can't help but see it as an expectation, whether or not they actually view it as such. Sorry, Mom. Sorry, Dad. Six years of the same fucking routine isn't exactly going to be easily forgotten.
10. I cannot stand most of the fandoms I could have presumably ended up in. The anime fandoms just kind of annoy me and about a quarter of the people in fandoms know jack shit about proper Japanese. The fandoms for most of the video games I play do nothing but get into ship wars and bash the female characters undeservedly. The Doctor Who fandom is never satisfied with anything that goes on ever. The Venture Bros. fandom is completely unforgiving and too many of them seem unwilling to trust Doc and Jackson as creators. I became a part of the Metalocalypse fandom because they don't take themselves too seriously and they still have fun. And most importantly they don't give a shit what other people think about them.
11. I have a large patch of skin on my upper thigh that is a lot harder and tougher than the rest of my legs. It's always been there, and I'm ridiculously self-conscious about it. My teeth are horrible as well, because of the liquid medication I had to take for my constant ear infections. I'm also self-conscious about that.
12. I'd really like to have a hedgehog or a ferret as a pet in the future. I think they're adorable and endearing. I am naming my first pet Scrambles the Death Dealer, and I don't care what people think of me for it.
13. I love feminine-looking girls with short hair. I also prefer girls with boobs smaller than mine. I wouldn't wish my suffering upon anyone else. I love tallish girls with strong, confident personalities but I also like doing things for girls. I'm a gentleman at heart. If a girl doesn't let me do something for her once in a while it honestly kind of hurts my feelings. I fucking love redheads, they seriously make me swoon. I love tattoos and piercings, but only piercings above the neck. I also love girls in sweaters.
14. I have a tendency to teeter-totter on my opinion of wanting kids. On most days I'm usually thinking "Ew screaming poop factories do not want." On the other hand, it would be nice. I'm too young to be thinking of this shit though XD
15. I wish my first relationship had ended on better terms. We can hardly be friends anymore and it's sad because we used to be really close. I think I still subconsciously resent her for unintentionally stringing me along for two years. It wasn't her fault; she was just confused. I think I'm just sick of the uncertainty. That probably makes me a terrible person.
