I was just rereading this fic before my perception is forever changed by the possibility that Akemi and Shiho are half or non-biological sisters-not that I think that it would diminish their sisterly love, but I wanted to savor their relationship as we had always known it before it's confirmed that Elena and Mrs. Akai are sisters. . . . I have to say, though, it's pretty impressive that your fic still fits with canon three and a half years later, which is such a challenge for an ongoing, mystery-laden series such as Conan! If the inspiration ever strikes you, I would be thrilled to see a sequel featuring Shiho and Rei (up to you whether Shuuichi's also there or not)! Rei's connection to Elena is absolutely eating me alive. . . . (On a slightly tangetial note, how did you find the Scarlet Series?)
P.S. Good grief, I can't believe I'd forgotten to reply to the comments here! *hangs head in shame* It's quite interesting, reading them now. . . .

I'm a few chapters behind in the manga right now, stuck in the middle of the all-girl band case, so I'll ping you with my thoughts once I've caught up.

I'm all right, despite the fact I've been quite sickly these past few years. Don't worry, though, it's nothing life threatening! :D Health issues aside, I finally got to visit Japan (twice!) last year, so it's not all that bad. ;P I haven't made my way to Tottori, though, but maybe someday!
I'm still on LJ, but I've mostly been a lurker, though (because I'm a horrible blogger/commenter like that). I also have you on my Author Alerts on FF.N, and it's been really nice to see you writing again! (I really should get back to writing, too! *sobs*) Sorry I haven't been able to leave any reviews, but I've read all of your Conan updates! I tried reading your first Undertale fic, but I ended up not understanding anything. *sweatdrops* (Never heard of the fandom, sorry about that!)
Congratulations on your promotion! Hmm, guess this means I should save my replies to your other comments once you get caught up, then! I actually just caught up with half a year's worth of manga last January myself! Interesting things are happening in the manga right now; Aoyama-sensei has stuck with the same plot thread for three consecutive cases now, which is pretty unusual of him. I do hope you can find the time to catch up soon; I'd love to be able to talk about the series with you just like old times!
(And if you haven't seen the trailer for Movie 20, you totally should-it's absolutely hype-tastic! It does make one wonder, though, "Shouldn't this be the kind of stuff that happens in canon?")

Just wanted to drop you a line since I've been slowly catching up. On chp. 948!

Thanks for still following my fics, and even checking out my Undertale stuff. No worries, it's a video game with its own lore and all kinds of AUs.
All I can say on Conan so far is I like how Aoyama went from introducing Akai's relatives and Bourbon to hinting at a more complex backstory and set of relationships with the Miyanos. LOL, and if anyone doubted Ai was really 18, she confirmed it.
Have not caught up with the movies yet. Think I stalled out around Movie 16.

Wow, I'm glad to see you still have a positive view of the series. :) Fandom sentiments have been really negative post-Scarlet Series, especially on DCTP and DCW. Honestly, it took me a while to digest the reveal about Bourbon myself (as much as I adore the character), but I've decided to give Aoyama-sensei the benefit of the doubt. :) Plus, I really don't want to fall into the slippery slope kind of mentality. That's not to say it hasn't been hard at times, though. In any case, I'm determined to stick through this series 'till the very end, through good times and bad.
That said, like many others, I'm really not a fan of the possibility of the Akai and the Miyano families (and possibly every major family in the series) being related. :( I'm not really sure what's there to gain from it, aside from Shiho magically gaining a ton load of relatives. :( Not that I don't want her to be happy, but this isn't exactly the direction I hoped her character would have. :( I'm not the biggest fan of this Akai family subplot, to be honest. Mary is shaping up to be quite the interesting character, though.
Chapter 948, huh? So close! That's two more cases before the much awaited Scotch-Rye-Bourbon backstory! It got mixed reactions from fans, though.

Ahahaha, the scene was great! Oh, and Aoyama-sensei did actually confirm Shiho's age in an interview long ago. *too lazy to look for it at the moment*

I haven't either, to be honest. I still haven't finished Movies 7, 11, and 19, for some reason; I really should get around to them at sone point, especially Movie 7 since next year's movie is Heiji/Kazuha. Oh, and Movie 20's going be showing in my country next month! I'm so excited for Rei and Shuuichi to take center stage~ ♥ I'm definitely not going to miss the opportunity to see this movie in an actual theater!

I'm taking a wait and see attitude with the family relationships, but I'm pleased at Aoyama digging into things about Ai and Shuuichi in general. One thing that bugs me is, while I get that Aoyama has his mystery-of-the-day structure, it makes no sense for Conan and Shuuichi to keep secrets from each other. I'd be wary of Amuro because of how much he hates Shuuichi, but dangit, at this point Conan and Shuu are secret-identity twins. And Aoyama's been reflecting this in many panels!
Random side note, I'm glad Heiji's trying to confess to Kazuha, though he's being a total dork about it.
It's super you're going to see Movie 20 in theaters! Enjoy!
