My Review for "In Your Memory" (Part I) ran_dezvous October 7 2012, 04:21:22 UTC
I really wish LJ didn't render my whistling Ai icon inactive, as it is absolutely appropriate for this comment, though my thank-you icon would work as well, right? *grins*

W-Why, why didn't you wait for my reply? What if I'm not a Shiho fan? There are people who actually hate her, you know. *is shot*

. . . I kid, I kid. *grins* (Though there really are people who hate or have her as their least favorite, surprising as that may sound; I was honestly surprised when I first encountered such people [only recently, in fact!], especially since a lot of people who have her as their favorite DC character say she’s the only good character in the series [as much as I love her, I can’t find myself to completely agree with that sentiment] and that disliking her would be utter blasphemy, even worse than that of disliking KID. [Admittedly, KID’s the character I dislike the most from the series, though I don’t hate him as much as I used to.]) Ai-Shiho is my fifth favorite character, so this is very much loved. ♥ (She should probably rank higher, I know, but it is what it is.) There needs to be more Ai-Shiho fanfiction that doesn't involve pairing her up with Conan-Shinichi! And, seriously, even if I were still a Shinichi/Ran fan, my love for Ai-Shiho would still prevail! Not to mention gen fic is a nice break from the all the romance I keep on seeing on FF.N. (By the way, I totally understand not waiting for my response; I utterly fail at making timely responses. Sigh.)

You've been so productive since your return to writing, it almost makes me want to die of shame! *utterly fails at being prolific, unlike the rest of the writers on her f-list*

I actually read this on FF.N long before you sent me an e-mail telling me you’ve posted it (because I was procrastinating on writing your fic *is shot*) but, as you already know, I suck at making timely replies. *is shot* I had a lot of things to say, but it was a challenge to put all of my thoughts into a coherent and smooth-flowing review and not just a hodgepodge of words-I even had a Word document for this (in the past tense since I’ll probably delete it immediately after posting. Oh, and parallelism)! *sweatdrops* (So, yes, this means I haven’t forgotten about my promised review/fangirling for Resolve.) That said, thank you so much! ♥ It's all right you couldn't accept prompts, no one's ever dedicated a fic to me before, so I'm really, really touched! And you can never go wrong with Shiho~

By the way, I’ve added this fic to my Memories here on LJ and Favorites on FF.N, though you probably already know about the latter if you have your alerts enabled.

Before we go on to the review proper, however, here are some of the random things I’ve appreciated:

Your disclaimer = EPIC WIN (which brings to mind the “Epic Fail” challenge you’ve posted on manycases1truth, heh).

While I highly doubt it was intentional, it reminded me of a conversation we once had-instigated by yours truly, haha-regarding Detective Conan as a drug. Aoyama-sensei, what have you done to us?!

It’s great you've made Shiho young enough to still be in Japan ("five going on fifty", LOL); I'd actually forgotten there must have been a period of time that Shiho got to spend with her sister before she was sent abroad to study in the US. And, admittedly, for some reason, it never crossed my mind they would have guardians, even though that would actually make a lot of sense. Hmm . . .

I don't know why, but eyebags euphemized as "dark under-eye circles" utterly amuses me so.

I love that you've integrated the "Okiya Is Akai" theory in this fic. It may as well be fact, though, since anyone, even without exposure to fan theories, who follows the manga should be able to figure this out by now, considering the blatant hints-the explanation for Yukiko-disguised-as-Sherry's supposed fake death, Subaru having Shuuichi-type eyes-in the recently concluded Mystery Train arc.

Anyway, that's it for the lighthearted portion of this review; the more serious stuff&which really isn't all that serious-will be in the next comment because it didn't fit in this one. *sweatdrops* Why am I not surprised?

First off, wow! Thanks for taking time to write such a comprehensive review!

Didn't think you expected me to wait for your approval, anyway, since this was the next fic I had ready that wasn't Shin/Ran! Being devoted to canon as we both are, I trusted you would like it as long as it was written well.

If my writing's more prolific now, it's because I'm getting inspired, hitting a stride, and trying not to psych myself out. Thank God, it's working.

Yes, I noticed you added it to your FF.net faves! That really touched me. ♥ Thanks!

The guardians thing is my way to vaguely allude to whoever the heck in the Org was responsible for the sisters. Like you said, vagueness helps where Aoyama's left gaps. Dark under-eye circles are different than eyebags; the former refers to discoloration, the latter to puffiness. I have the former, lol!
