Yeah, i guess they do take revenge...

Friday is my last day of class. Woot!

So I've been "looking" for a theater that was playing Star Wars in the English version since the movie came out...turns out the theater that is about 2 blocks and 2 minutes walk from my place plays it in English all day long. So today, I skipped Nuclear Physics and saw Star Wars 3.

I must say, it was wildly amazing. I was completely mystified afterwards. There are so many surprising moments, even though we all know what happens, more/less. I might go as far to say that it was more emotionally powerful than the original trilogy.

Things I liked:
1)NATALIE PORTMAN
2)More Lightsaber duels than I could handle (yes, this is a Pro)
3)JarJar had no lines (plus, we only see him for about 3 seconds)
4)NATALIE PORTMAN
5)The Emperor's new grooves
6)R2D2 is now the Universally Helpful Astromech Droid (he killed like 2 battle droids at once)
7)Mace Windu was a significantly awesome badass
8)Yoda...he's such a little green Jedi.
9)The Wook's were so bad ass. And I SWEAR 2 of them did the George of the Jungle cry as they swung down form some vines and attacked the droids.
10)Anakin's change from Light->Dark was very well done. It left you almost hoping he would still win over the Dark Side and not become Darth Vadar...but that's just silly.
11)The editting was amazingly done
12)It seems the scantily clad Twi'Lek are still the Slave Girls of Choice for powerful politicians. (Twi'lek = the girls with the 2 head tails, like from Jabba's Palace)
13)We could clearly see the change from the Episode2 technology to the A New Hope technology. (Star Destroyers, AT/ST walkers, stark white corridors, A-Wings, "and you know that we got it" "-----")
14)They didn't make the OctopusSaberDroid be the main villain (he was lame anyway)
15)We get to see a little kid Padwan Jedi kill some stuff
16)They showed many familiar aliens that will appear in the next couple movies, which ties the Galaxy's believability together.
17)The Tatooine scene with Owen and Beru Lars watching the twin sunset was awesome continuity

Things I disliked:
1)There was still some cheesy dialogue
2)There was a certain charm about the low-tech, plastic model Special Effects that computer imagery can't capture. Sure it was mindbogglingly well made CGI...but I miss the jerky AT/AT walk and the obviously blue-screened Rancor and the Man-in-the-Wampa-Suit and the sock puppet Astroid Monster.
3)We didn't see any Boba Fett
4)They still insist on using absurdly obvious evil names for Villains (Sidious, Plageuis, Tyranis, Grievous)
5)They missed GREAT opportunities to say lines from the Original Trilogy. ("Everything is going as I have foreseen"..."Search your feelings, you know it to be true"..."You must unlove what you have loved")
6)The Droid Army guys are silly and keep saying "Roger"...but it's actually pretty funny
7)You'd think Jedi's would wear a wrist leash for their sabers because they're ALWAYS falling off of cliffs and chasms and balconies.
8)I wanted to see Ewoks and Jawas...but alas, there were none

As we can see, the Pro's are 2x > Cons. It's better than Episode I and II put together.
