I saw
They Might Be Giants at Largo-at-the-Coronet three times the previous weekend, on Feb 6 & 7. Went with my sister. We saw: Kids' show Sat. Feb 6 at 2pm, Regular show Sat. Feb 6 at 8pm, and Flood show Sun. Feb 7 at 8pm. We scored FRONT ROW seats for the two adult shows!!! Both adult shows closed with "James K. Polk"! Why yes, all three shows were fabulous!!!
The first time I saw TMBG was in 1989 (a Flood preview show), and in 2010 they still are amazing! They seem nearly the same (just as amazing) over all these years, except that John Linnell is a lot more outgoing onstage now. Yaaaaay!!! BTW,
Here Comes Science, even though it's officially a Kids' album, does, in fact, rock! And the song "Seven" from
Here Comes the 123s [see this
bad video of a very excellent Seven live performance on Conan -or-
the official Seven video] is still as much of an awesome earworm for me as when I first heard it!
I was a bit concerned that I was overdoing it (energy-wise) with three shows in two days, but it turned out (as I'd guessed) that I just can't overdo it where TMBG shows are concerned. I'd actually originally planned to just see two shows -- a Kids' show and the Flood show, but I found out later I'd blown it. I thought they were doing two Kids' shows and two Flood shows on two days, but it was just a regular show the first day and the Flood show the second day (Sun.). So I bought tix for the third show. And... it was EXCELLENT!!! I was even a bit wistful on Sunday morning that I'd skipped the 2nd Kids' show!
