Selling Beautiful Set of "Great Books of the Western World" (Britannica)

Dec 22, 2007 04:22

Hey all! I've (STILL) been on a bit of an LJ-hiatus for a while; not feeling very social lately. I'll be back, in a while, fear not. Anyway, I'm still jobhunting (December is NOT the best time for that!) and also needing $$ to get by....
So, I've listed my set of Great Books of the Western World by Encyclopædia Britannica in a Craigslist Ad and here in a post on LJ in los_angeles. See both posts for all the info -- the Craigslist Ad has lots of details, and the LJ post offers an LJ discount.
This lovely set of books is available to anyone who can come to pick up the set (Los Angeles Area: Alhambra), or arrange to get them somehow. I will ship them to anyone who wants them, at cost.
Feel free to spread the this link or the craigslist ad to anyone you see fit.

Just getting over a damned cold (not fair after that nasty kidney infection!), still kinda out of it. December jobhunting does suck mightily! :(
UPDATE: I see that eBay sellers list various amounts to ship this set. If you wanted these shipped to you, it might be something like $30-45 for USPS Media Mail.
UPDATE 2 Price drop for LJ folks to $200 (pick up or pay actual cost of shipping)
UPDATE 3 Text of my (now expired) Craigslist ad, pasted here for my later use:

These books make a perfect addition to a student or home library. In addition, they have a beautiful look on your shelves -- note the gold on the spines and on the top edges on the pages (visible in the second photo below).
The set I'm selling is NEARLY NEW, almost completely unread (they languished in boxes for years -- I didn't have room!). A book or two has dents in the cover on the right edge of the books (not visible on shelf).
Amazon.com is selling a "good" copy of this set for $225 -- but we know that "good" isn't so good. They're selling more decent copies for around $300 and up.
I am selling my beautiful NEAR NEW set for $225, with (of course) NO SHIPPING CHARGE -- just come pick them up! I'll supply the boxes.
In addition, I will include three volumes entitled The Great Ideas Today, volumes 1985, 1986, and 1987. These were annual supplemental volumes published yearly by Encyclopædia Britannica.
Contact me by phone (preferred) at [DELETED] between Noon and 10pm, or email. Come pick them up any day!! CASH ONLY! (no exceptions)
PICTURES:
(1) 52 of the 54 volumes (the last two wouldn't fit on my two shelves!).
(2) The last two volumes of the Great Books (see the gold on the top of the pages), plus the three volumes of "The Great Ideas Today".
