Last AOP-work-day, my sister and I planned that TODAY (Sunday) would be the day we made the BIG MOVE of the coffee table from my 'puter room to the living room. This involved final clearing out of the central living room space, clearing a wide enough pathway through my 'puter room, through a hallway, through a pseudohallway, and into my living room. And, finally, moving stuff off the coffee table that had been stored there.
So we did all the clearing out, and lifted the coffee table. Kinda heavy. But -- uh-oh -- the pop-up top of the table kept popping up! No matter what sideways orientation we held the coffee table in (it had to be sideways to fit through the hallways), it wouldn't stay unpopped. Finally I grabbed my purple painter's masking tape and taped the point of the π/2-shaped table shut -- wrapped it round and round and round in the hopes that the wimpy masking tape would hold strongly enough with enough layers. Chose the painter's tape so I wouldn't mar the finish on the table. To our relief, it held and stayed shut! We got it into the living room.
Wow, success!!! Relaxing on the Fågelbo (still such a treat!), I remembered a cute small round blue ottoman I'd recently seen, which seemed so cute and practical because it was a storage ottoman whose top when flipped upside-down was a tray. And the round shape complemented the round lazy susan that sits atop coffee table, and the round arc of the coffee table itself. One or two would fit very nicely across from the coffee table point. So I bought two of these ottomen, and now I have the most lovely L-couch + chair L-arm extension + pop-up coffee table + two small ottomen arrangement!
In the pic at the top, you can see the π/2-shaped pop-up coffee table (unpopped), the lazy susan atop the coffee table with round blue mat (with tiny Geomag Pastelles scuplture in the center), the two new round blue ottomen, and my sister's artistic arrangement of Plush Peeps & Speakers & Misc.
Pix to follow soon of the Whole Living Room Seating Area, with illustrations of how the pop-up coffee table and the storage ottomen work.
P.S. to Diane -- I've finally resurrected your speakers from their former awkward and mostly hidden locations. Want me to drop 'em by sometime, or come get 'em? I'll even throw in some fancy big speakers I've had for ages, if you want 'em.
