Been sick!
On the final plane to LA (11 hours), and after I got home from India, I found that I'd been feeling really fatigued and had an enormous headache that wouldn't quit. I felt like that, continuously, for days!!! Then Friday I started sneezing a bit, and my sinuses felt huge pressure. Then I was miserable for the whole weekend, with a fever and all that. So for the weekend, it turned into a full-fledged sinus-based virus starting Friday afternoon, and continued through this past weekend plus Monday.
Saturday was the worst of it, and I actually got a bit worried. Up 'til that moment, all I'd been feeling was getting worse, getting worse, getting worse. I actually called my doctor's after-hours nurse help line, to get advice. There are so many icky things with "flulike symptoms" and I'd just returned from a place with bugs that I didn't necessarily have the best natural protections against. And I did acquire several constellations of mosquito bites as charming souvenirs. So, I waited on the phone for 50min to talk with a nurse, with no real assurance that I'd really called the correct phone number and that anyone was there. I was feeling bad enough that finally I gave up, and decided to try again with more phone calls (perhaps properly using a speakerphone for hold-waiting next time) if I continued to worsen. Luckily for me, that was the worst of this particular virus, and my fever did start to drop and my misery lessened a few quanta. OK, I decided to just ride it out.
I spent the entire weekend in bed, with no online time at all. Yesterday morning (Monday), I finally climbed out of bed long enough to deal with a tiny shred of email (mostly to email folks at work to take Monday off), so I just wanna say that if anyone's been looking for me that's why I've been far from available. I've even been tough to reach by phone 'cause I've been napping a TON.
Finally, I went in to work today (very late -- afternoon only), feeling like the fever had passed and my head was merely annoyed rather than exploding. Big work deadline due by tomorrow afternoon. But my brain is still mush. :(
So I've not been online much at all since I've been back, and none at all since Friday. With this nasty sinus hell I've just felt like vegging in bed with my kitty and passively catching up on my TiVo backlog. At least getting to hang out with mira_kitty for hours and hours has been a treat!
