ho hum humdrum day

sitting here with my back against the wall cos it hurts really bad.

i want to know what i did for it to have problems like this.
was it, in fact, the result of the Bentley, driven by the arrogant Armenian dickhead who hit my driver door when i lived in Boca? i have never had problems like this till then, so i am thinking yes.

i think i had a pretty successful day yesterday, as far as job hunts go, so i am taking it easy today.
plus, i can't go back to St John's town center today anyway. William promised me he would search for a job there.

there are so many things i don't like about his job searching- i shouldn't even care.
this is how i do it:
* walk in

* ask for application along with if the person i am talking to has any idea if they are hiring at that time

* fill it out there

* ask to speak to a manager, or ask when the best time to call or come back is, as well as who to ask to talk to

* take a business card

* leave

* wait 3 or 4 days and call to ask about status of application.
-- if i am told i will be called, i ask when to expect a call and wait till that day comes and goes. then i call them the day after the expected call.
-- if i can't get someone to talk to me on the phone, or if i stop in again and can't get anyone to talk to me then, i call every 2 days for 2 weeks.

if it yields no results, then i give up.

this is how my Mom and, in fact SCHOOL taught me to do it.
i was taught to put my face out there and be persistent. be annoying about it. ask questions.
this is what i did yesterday with Publix, because my application has been on file close to 6 weeks now, and the lady in the bakery department keeps giving me the runaround about wether or not she is going to hire me.

i told the general manager all of what "Anita" has said to me, and kept getting a runaround from the manager. so i said, plainly,

"look. i don't know how old you think i am, but i am very passionate about my jobs and my work. i live 2 blocks away, i can be here within a moment's notice, and i am VERY good at what i do. what's more important to ME, and it SHOULD be to you, is that i have a culinary degree. i have 12 years restaurant experience, both in front and back of the house. i have a year's management experience, and an accumulated 5 years in retail. are you telling me that that is not impressing you, at least a little bit?"

she stood there with her mouth open and didn't say anything.

"i'll leave you with that thought then, Maam. have a great day."

and i smiled and i walked out.

it needed to be said, and i don't feel badly about it.
they fucked up.

speaking of fucked up, i need a new laptop. iKahn (my current laptop) has a busted hinge. it's actually breaking out of the back of the base.
i'll have to transfer all my picture files to photobucket and resurrect iGor.

iGor is my first laptop. i spilled cherry kool-aid on it after the first year. it's still good. the only problems are a burned out battery, so it needs to be plugged in when in use, no matter what.
also, there's a missing APPLE key down on the bottom left. but that's cosmetic.

anyway, on a happier note, you missed my Passions as of June 2008 list.
go check it out, cos it's funny.
oh! watch the linky there, too. there's an advertisement first, but once the actual clip starts, it counts backward, so a good time to stop watching it is when the counter hits 1.11
