I left the house, a little later than I had intended, I wanted the sketches for Micheal Arctic so I could ink them if the plays were dull, but I couldn't find them. I grabbed a box, put every possible folder and binder that could contain the sketches into it and ran out the door. I got out into the car checked the time and started off. About half-way between the house and the Forest Hills sign I found that I didn't have the instructions with me. I thought for a second and was pretty sure I knew the exit #, being late already I figured it wasn't worth going back for. Off I went, through the notch and down toward Plymouth. All the while I am doing 5 miles less than the speed limit because Epona is past due for her inspection and I could not be pulled over.
I passed exit 26 and exit 25, both Plymouth, at about the time I should have been there, 20 minutes past Plymouth. For sure it was exit 23, I was certain of this, Plymouth must have 3 exits, or 4...? the highway stretched on and on and I followed it. Found exit 23: Meredith. Maybe she lives a little away from the school so she could get a cheap apartment? Mandy had said that there would be a McDonalds just after the off ramp if I went left. So I went left, and no McDonalds, but just my luck, there was a big sign! McDonalds this way! It proclaimed, and I figured I must have mis-remembered the location, an hour later I had made it to the McDonalds, turned around and was all the way back on the highway headed North. I was meant to meet Mandy at 3, it's a bit after 4 at this point. I get off at the first (heading north) Plymouth exit, no McDonalds, no much of anything. I pop back on the highway and continue to the next one, buildings, no McDonalds... so I head into town, pull over at the post office and ask. The Postman points me towards the McDonalds (he knew exactly the one) and off I go to meet up with Mandy. I pull into the parking lot, get out, look around and no Mandy, I go inside and ask if they've seen her, no sign. I ask one of the staff how to get to the school and head off. My intent is to find the student union, find out where Mandy's play is and wait for her there. I park and luck has it I find the building, there's a big sign for the playwriting exposé thingy. So I park there, head inside, look for signs, nothing. It's almost an hour later that it occurs to me that I have no idea what time her play is at. So I go in search of a payphone and find one, but I have no change, almost leave and then remember my phonecard. I call home, get Mandy's number and call her. It's about 5 now, she has been worried crazy and so has my family. When I explain all of what happened to Mandy she tells me she was at that McDonalds the whole time, why didn't she see me? I tell her the time, she had gone home to get homework at exactly that time.
The plays were by and large crap. Mandy's was good, it made me cry, then the intermission starts. A voice behind me says "You draw really well" and I turn to see a heavy fellow in the row behind me, he says something about only being able to manage stick figures himself. I try to be polite and he says "I bet I know which play you came to see someone in", "Oh?" I say, and then he guesses correctly. At this point I am a bit weirded out. I politely excuse myself to go and look for Mandy. After the final play he says hello again and I do my best to be polite and not seem creeped out, before I find Mandy he hands me a slip of paper with his phone number and e-mail and name... O.o I am planning to e-mail him, he wanted my VCL address... but creepy. Anyhow, as Mandy and I are driving off she pulls up next to one of her fellow actors and asks if he will be at Rocky Horror, so happens this fellow is with her friend and he asks where and when it will be. So lo and behold, we're at Rocky Horror and guess who sits in the row behind me? He was friendly but... no, just No.
Also talked to mandy and showed her my art, trying to square what is and is not allowed at the anime con they're hosting. This:
http://us-p.vclart.net/vcl/Artists/Anne/Requests%2C%20Trades%20and%20Commissions/LeonaLion.jpg is unacceptable, since she's naked, she belongs in an 18+ folder ^_^ hee hee hee... way I figure it whatever they want's okay, I mean, it's not costing me anythign for the table. No skin of my nose, it's just silly. Later we talked to a friend of hers, who is in charge of the artist's alley at their con, I think I understand what they're asking for.
