I am waiting.
I know they are outside, I can hear them. shuffling, falling, banging on the windows.
The day started normal, breakfast, feet the animals, sewing all day.
I heard sirens, more then normal. but I didn't think anything of it. some days are like that.
There was a guy in the yard, I could see him shuffling across the grass to the front door. When I saw the blood, I slammed the front door.
No question what was happening.
my mind was going a mile a minute, as I ran around the house closing doors and windows which I had opened because of the heat.
As soon as Zelda got a sniff at the man, she started wineing. I could hear her start to bark at the front door a second before I heard the thump. The was followed by more thumps, and a crash. a window broke in the front bedroom. I knew that door was closed, but not blocked.
I knew I need to get out, get away. But I had no car. I was going to have to go on foot. some place safe. The Police Station. They had guns and strong doors.
I wrote a quick note on the white board, for shawn and anyone else.
I grabbed my short sword and shawn's long sword. plus the machet which I remembered was in the shed. I could see Them thrught the cracks in the fence and they could smell me. how was I going to get out.
I put on my tall boots, two pairs of jeans, and three layers of shirts. plus my big coat. may the layers would protect me?
Zelda would follow me, if she could. I could not think of the idea of her not makeing it.
slipping out the small side gate, I peeked around the garage, they were gone for now.
The fasted way would be the path, almost a stright shot to the expressway, maybe some one would pick me up. and the Station not far down from that.
As we started to run, I could feel my ancle start to hurt. I hoped it wouldn't give out on me . . . .
