I had never given much thought to the last look you share with a person before you say goodbye before. That is until I watched Elizabethtown last fall. When I first saw the movie, I still didn't think much about those looks. I recently watched that movie again, however, and have been giving it some thought. I have come to the conclusion that I would rather not know when it is about to be the last look. The last look is the way you remember that person for a long time and I want it to be a look that best portrays them. For example, I do not want to remember someones eyes when they are looking sad and full of regret. I want to remember their eyes when they are smiling and laughing because we are reminiscing about the past. Or the way the look when we are having a heart to heart talk about the future and about life. I have never been good at good byes (not that people ever brag at their ability to say good bye) and I think it is because I don't want to remember people the way they look when they are saying good bye. Who wants to say good bye? You never know what the good bye means. Does it mean,] "Bye! See you in a day or so" "See you soon" or the worst "It was nice knowing you but next time I see you, you will have become some one I used to know" No on wants THAT look to be the look some one always remembers about you. It is better to just not say good bye if that is the case!
