You could be happy, I hope you are//You made me happier than I'd been by far ~Snow Patrol
"C'mon, sweetheart, wake up." A soft voice was beside Randall's ear. A very calming voice. His lips turned up into a smile.
"No," he whispered.
"I gotta put the little guy to bed."
"He's asleep," Randall objected. He opened his eyes and glanced up at Heather, then down at the two year old asleep on his chest. "See?"
She sighed and crouched down beside the couch, letting her fingers run through Randall's hair. "What did I tell you about falling in love with my kid?"
He grinned and closed his eyes. "Blame your kid."
"Mmhmm."
"C'mere." He shifted on the couch and reached for her arm, pulling her down beside him. She laughed and did what she could to spread out and not fall to the floor.
"This couch isn't big enough for the three of us," she said.
"Nonsense." He pushed himself back further into the back of the couch and pulled her closer with the arm that was under her. He held Frankie with his other arm and sighed. "I think it's pretty close to perfect."
"Mmhm." She turned her head over to kiss his jaw softly. "I love you."
"Love you too," he whispered. And he did. They'd been together almost a year and he couldn't be happier. Nothing in his life had ever felt so...right. He kissed the side of her head. "I wanna do this every night."
Her hand closed over his and rubbed his fingers slowly. "Might get a little old," she whispered. "Bed would be better."
He chuckled. "Not just the couch...this. I want...to be with you two. All the time."
She leaned back against him with a long sigh. "What are you saying?"
"Let's move in together," he said carefully. He was terrified she would say no. "I know...things are tight for you and Frankie and...I want to be here. I want to take care of both of you."
"Randy.." she said softly.
"I know you don't need it...but do you want it?"
He held her as she lay quietly against him. His heart was pounding in his chest as he waited. Finally, she let out a sigh. "I want it."
A grin spread ear to ear and he closed his eyes, leaning his head close to hers. "Good."
She laughed and hit his hand. "Go to sleep before you wake up Frankie."
"Mm, love it when you're bossy," he growled softly. He settled in though and lay quietly, unable to wipe the grin from his lips.
