Brokeback Mountain: The Biggest Sore Loser in History

Mar 15, 2006 02:49

Alright, I've had enough of it. The Oscars were a week and a half ago and every day I wake up and read some new editorial on why Brokeback Mountain was robbed of it's honor as the deserving best picture by the surprise winner Crash. I completely agree. Although there really was a lot of marketing done with Crash, I don't think it influenced the voters to nearly the degree that some critics have claimed, especially since its not like Brokeback Mountain's been out of the limelight in the past couple of months. If I hear one more Brokeback fan complain about getting shafted, I might just slap them. They were both good movies, only one film can win. GET OVER IT ALREADY.
I'm still surprised that this has been such an issue; I really didn't think that people even took the Oscars that seriously anymore.

"'Trash,' I mean 'Crash,'" just might beat "Tony Ebola, I mean Evola" for best burn ever. I guess I'll just have to judge it by which one is more politically relevant.

I wonder what greatness she would have penned if the other films had won...?

"'Eunuch,' I mean 'Munich.'"
"'Baloney,' I mean 'Capote.'"
"'It Bites and It Sucks,' I mean 'Good Night and Good Luck.'"

Annie Boo-Hoo, I mean Annie Proulx, is my new pun hero.
