Joys of Mountain Life

Jul 02, 2009 09:06

Periodically I wax poetic about life on my mountain. I talk about the wonders of finding new wildflowers. I gush about favorite hikes. I try to imitate bird song -- which is very loud today.

And then there's the bear.

Imagine if you will waking up at 6:30 to put the garbage out for a 7:30 collection...only...

the across the street neighbor put his garbage out last night. The bear got into it. We had dirty paper towels, chicken carcasses, corn cobs, etc etc, all dew wet and disgusting strewn from his driveway, across the street, up into my yard all the way to the 1st level of terracing under the cedar tree.

Sigh. I didn't really need to know what brand of coffee they drink.

EV, LH and I spent a good 10 minutes with brooms and dustpans, fresh plastic bags, and long handled grabbers cleaning up the mess.

And so I offer again my little filk to the tune of "My Boyfriend's Back" Feel free to add verses, this may go on for a while. And then I'll see if I can get Maya Kaatherine Bonhoff to sing it next time we meet at a con.

he bear is back and there's gonna be some trouble
Hey nonny, nonny. no.
He comes at night and messes with the garbage
Hey nonny, nonny, no.
Called the rangers but they have no leverage
Hey nonny, nonny, no.
So I turned the cat loose
Hey Nonny, nonny, no.
The bear got scared and he ran away
He nonny, nonny no.

filk, bears, mountain life, maya kaathering bonhoff
