Last night about a dozen authors of SF/F gathered at Powell's Beaverton for a celebration of the genre.
For those of you who don't live in the greater Portland, OR area, you might be familiar with Powells.com, their online store. Their two major storefronts are a mini empire of books. New and used, rare and obscure or just out bestsellers, they are all there. You can find almost anything at Powells or they can find it for you. The downtown store is a full block, three stories of books. The satellite store in Beaverton in 3/4 the size and more genre oriented.
We had a delightful 2 hours. Lots of people showed up to buy books, people I knew, strangers, long time fans I know only from the internet. They all seemed to be there. I thank them all for getting out and supporting this event. Hopefully we were successful enough to warrent a repeat.
