rundown of recent happenings

With the end of the school year fast approaching (yay!), I've been a little too busy to write about what's been going on. Here's a quick recap:

-I finally bought a new car! It's a 2009 Toyota Corolla S and I really like it. When I went to the Toyota dealer I was more interested in getting a Prius, but not only would I have had to go on a 4-6 month waiting list, it would have been at least $4,000 more than the car I got. I hadn't been too enthused about Corollas in the past, but Toyota redesigned them recently so they look much sportier. A friend commented today that she thought the new ones looked "sexy," and while I personally don't know if that's true it's nice to know that other people think I got a car that looks sexy but is in reality very practical.

-I went to Michigan last weekend to visit some of my Loyola friends. They have two little boys, and even though the kids are totally cute and great to spend a weekend with, they also reminded me why I'm glad not to have kids of my own at this point in my life. It was exhausting; I think I was more tired when I got back than I was when I left. It was awesome to see my friends though.

-I've now gone to two events through the Columbus Young Professionals Club, and I really don't know if I can do many more. Both events had upwards of 60 people attending and as a general rule I do much better in smaller groups. It's tough to go to an event like that, knowing no one, and try to make small talk. The people I met at the recent happy hour were nice enough, but there was an element of fake-ness to the whole thing that was unsettling. Even though academics are socially awkward, at least it's authentic.

-Apparently this is going to be my summer of sundresses. I've bought three in the last month and I can't wait to wear them. I've never been much of a "dress" person, but the ones I got are so comfortable and they'll be a little nicer to wear to work over the summer than shorts would be. Plus, they show off my upper body and chest, which are my best physical features as far as I'm concerned. I've gone to the gym three days a week for almost a year, I might as well show off my toned arms while I can!
