howdy,
things are moving right along in
Think Galactic-land. the con happens in less than a month and we're in the final organizing push. it seems like i don't have a life outside of work and this convention. however, it shows signs of being pretty kickass. check out the
programming page for an idea of the kinds of stuff we'll be doing. we're also organizing a variety show for Saturday night [volunteers wanted!] and are publishing a chapbook in conjunction with the con [reprinting Nisi Shawl's "Deep End" and China Miéville's "Jack", with commentary and an essay about how to form a leftist book group, designed by the wonderful
adamjury]. this post, in fact, is serving as a break from writing that commentary, which feels strangely like being back in college, writing papers.
if you're local and reading this, there's many good reasons why you should come. if you're not so local, there's still time to find reasonable plane or train fares. registration is going up from $35 to $45 as of the 1st of July, so now's the time to save some money and lower my blood pressure a little [breaking even not yet a given].
because i'm a thoughful monkey, here's a handy Paypal button for registration:
Think GalactiCon Registration July 13-15th
can't make it, but still want to help [or just get the groovy chapbook and other con proceedings]? buy a supporting membership! it's only $15!
Think GalactiCon Supporting Membership
if you're already registered or bought a supporting membership, i love you dearly. if you haven't registered yet, i probably still love you, but will withhold favors until you cough up some support [just kidding, i'll give any favors i can these days].
ok, back to homework...
