[Book]: New series

First thing first, saw a rainbow on the way back a few days ago and it made me warm and fuzzy for a while.
Now moving on ^^.One of thing i have been trying to decide ever since I know about BookDepository is whether if time to get some of the manga series I have in mind. The one bad thing when you are trying to buy things in one-shot is you are more conscious of the prices. Try calculating the price of more then 10 volume per series and you'll have an idea why thrifty me balked initially. Luckily though some genius have came out with the 3-in-1 volume idea which means I do get cheaper manga especially when I can get is as a Preorder. Cross Game is almost completed and nostalgia made me get CCS. And I don't if timing is intentionally or not, I squeed when I saw Skip Beat also being re-released in that format. Got the first volume collection already.

Unfortunately the only constant thing I do now is reading so naturally I will ramble more on that than anything else. Been reading some pretty long HP fics from FF.Net. While I may have some issues with one of them, I salute those authors as they managed to write more then 700K words continuously. One of the good thing about online (fan)fiction is the length as published fic have will normally have limit once edited and to decide best value for price

I am also trying to vary my reading so the ratio of fanfiction vs published fiction will be bit more constant per month. I admit to gravitate more towards Fanfiction. Fortunately it seems I am on a good track so far by aiming to try out new series that have been in the TBR list since forever. No epic fantasy yet though

In January, I started with Jennifer Estep's Elemental Assasins series and The Harrison's Elder Races series. February saw me finally caught up with Moira J Moore - Heroes series and currently in March, I am still enjoying Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress series.

Unfortunately though, all is not bright and shiny in Reader's Land. Technology brings authors and readers closer especially on the web but it does have it dark side. I admit I am just a reader but it sad to see what I could roughly summed up as Author's Entitlement issues on one end and the other is the Reader's Entitlement. Review turning into comment wars and personal attacks is becoming more common.

Anyway this probably means I am continuing my trend of just adding books on GR as means of tracking them. Also looking at FictFact as they seems to be more in line of tracking. Not that Goodreads is not good. I actually started to use GR for the mm books resources (series info etc) as FantasticFiction does not have them yet. While I would say the ratings do play a part in deciding which book I may want to read, I actually use the listopia as a mean finding books with common theme rather then checking out individual reviews for each books.
