Krewe des Chiens Dog Parade

Jan 30, 2008 19:03

Well, Saturday was the 10th annual Krewe des Chiens dog parade in Lafayette, Louisiana. We had quite a turn out for the Acadiana Humane Society. We had quite a few volunteers who showed up to walk in the parade. Rebecca made an awesome float. Her kids threw Mardi Gras beads they brought. Kristy brought doggie stuffed toys to throw. Kristy's foster Ethel looked adorable dressed up as a police woman! Diana and Barbara carried the main parade banner for the Krewe des Chiens. Allyson, and one of our 4-H Mom's carried the AHS banner. Our three daughter's dressed up as pirates, and two of our dog fosters wore pirate costumes as well. Our daughters made an adorable pirate's treasure chest to pull in the parade, which held tons of beads to throw. Marla picked up Timber from the boarders and walking him in the parade. There were quite a few kids from ACH 4-H who walked in the parade with us. One 4-H family even paid to register their dog and walked with us. Girl Scout Troop 380 made posters to carry in the parade, and they all walked with us. It was a great turnout! Lots of fun, and all for a good cause! Also, thanks to Free Cycle donors, we did not run out of Mardi Gras beads to throw this year! Anyone who wants to donate beads or other throws for next year's dog parade, please let me know!
