Shion is normally a rather calm and serious individual. He takes his duties as the Aries Saint very seriously and is very aware of the responsibilities it gives him.
Shion likes the order and structure of tradition and rules. He firmly believes that such things exists for a reason. He’s willing to admit there are times and exceptions when the rules don’t work but unless you give him a very good reason for what they should be he will not agree and try to enforced the rules. Sometimes even he internally agrees with someone about a rule being too much or to strict, he will still feel honor bound to defend that rule. To him rules are part of tradition, something that he puts a lot of faith in. It gives structure and order to his life, no matter what has happened.
Shion has a lot of pride, both in his abilities and in his rank as the Gold Saint of Aries. This is one of the reasons he can more or often than not, be found wearing his Cloth instead of more causal clothes. He does not like being forced to admit he can’t do something or is not very good at something. He’s eighteen and is very aware of the responsibilities his rank carries. He doesn’t want to admit that sometimes this presses on him, hiding it behind bluster.
Shion can be a bit forceful and rude when he doesn’t know how to respond to things. He prefers to be straightforward with people when possible. He is not fond of deception. His abilities allows him to detect when someone is not being truthful with him, and if he does detect falsehood he will call confront the person attempting to deceive him.
He’s also passionately loyal to those he cares about. He would defend Athena and any of the other Gold Saints with his live. Yuzuriha, Alta and Hakurei are the other important people in his life. He thinks of them as the family he has never known, although he has never said so aloud. Hakurei is a father figure to him but that doesn’t stop their personalities from clashing occasionally. This is why, even though he will lecture others like Manigoldo about proper respect for their elders and Master, he will sometimes get into arguments with Hakurei.
Despite his power and rank, Shion is still an eighteen year old male. He will have occasional fits of stubbornness and immaturity that lead him to prolong arguments even when he knows he’s in the wrong. Also, he will at times, be a bit vain.
Other Skills/Abilities:
In addition to his abilities as a Gold Saint, which includes the ability to reach light speed, being very strong physically, and the ability to use Cosmo which gives him several very powerful attacks, Shion has the abilities that are usually credited to the Lemurain such as teleportation, telekinesis. He is a powerful psychic in his own right as well.
He also knows how to repair Cloths as well and possesses some healing abilities.
Other Weaknesses:
When he his not wearing his Cloth Shion is far more vulnerable and can be hurt or killed, the same as anyone else even if it will take some effort to do so.
History:
Shion has no memory of ever living anywhere but in Jamir with his Master Hakurei. Hakurei never saw a reason to tell him where he had been born and Shion has never cared. This is his life and he was content with it. He began training for the Aries Cloth early on.
Hakurei brought Yuzuhari back with him while Shion was still in training. He accepted her easily and soon came to see her as a sister. When Alta joined them shortly after that, Shion accepted him as a brother.
When he was thirteen Shion became the Saint of Aries. He then left Jamir to take up his post in the Aries temple at Sanctuary. Things were quiet for a few years after, but then Athena was found, Hades began to awaken and Specters started to appear. Shion was forced to stay in Sanctuary because of his duties and very rarely saw Jamir.
Current Story Point:
After a mission by several Silver Saints, Shion and Dohko were sent to investigate an area that was suspected to be Hades stronghold. They arrived at the town in Italy, and found Hades already there. The battle that followed ended badly with for the Saints. The town was destroyed, a barrier but up around Hades temple and five Saints were killed. The others returned to Sanctuary and, after reporting to Athena, Shion returned to his temple to wait for news.
Reality Description:
Sanctuary, in the 1700’s. It hasn’t changed much in several thousand years. It’s basically a rather barren, mountainous area with some ruins scattered across it. At the center are the twelve zodiac temples that guard the way up to the main temple that houses Athena herself. Shion is the guardian of Aries, the first to the temples.
First Person Speaking Sample:
What in Athena’s name!? What is…this is an illusion, this has to be. Is this a trick, an attempt to get past me to reach Athena? Wait, this does not feel like an illusion. But I do not see what else it could be. There is not other way you could find so many…things, in the middle of space. So if this is not an illusion, what is this? It can’t be a dream, I would have remembered falling asleep. Yet I don’t see how a place like this could exist outside of anything but a dream. Unless this is some sort attack by Hades, although if it is this a very strange one.
Third Person Writing Sample:
Shion listened to the echo of his steps as he made his way through Aries temple. He felt guilty, he knew his report had been painful for Athena although she had given no sign she had felt anything. The Saint she had loved as a brother was dead and the other person she had cared about was, if anything, worse than dead. It could not be easy for her.
“War is not easy on anyone,” he muttered as he opened the door to his private rooms and slipped inside, “not even to the gods.” The room looked the same as it had when he had last seen it, something that was both comforting and disturbing at the same time. This room hadn’t changed at all, yet an entire town that should have had nothing to do with this war was gone. He crossed the room and threw open his windows, letting the cool night air in. As the breeze struck his face, he was struck by a sudden breif surge of homesickness for the mountain of Jamir. But that was not his place. He was the guardian of the first temple. This was where he belonged now.
Suddenly the rooms seemed far too small and he felt restless. Athena had ordered him to rest, but he doubted he could force himself too. He was tired but he didn’t feel like sleep just yet. For a few minuets he paced his rooms, not bothering to remove his Cloth. Even with the windows open if felt stuff, confined. He stopped his pacing, not wanting to leave the room yet not wanting to stay either. Then he remember that Dohko had lost his student, the Pegasus Saint, today. Shion knew the two had been close. Perhaps he should go visit his friend. At the very least, he knew his friend would appreciate the company.
He had barely formed the thought when he realized he had already started toward the door. As he shut the door behind him, he wondered what else this war would take from them.
