An hour at a time

Friday I ended up sleeping for nearly 12 hours straight and napping on and off all the rest of the day and evening while fighting off a headache. Goody. So last night (early this morning) I go to bed and....I couldn't sleep. Not at all. I laid there for 2 hours and nothing. So I got up and am now trying to do something with all these early morning hours I normally don't see. LOL

Decided to fire up the PC because it's been a few days and I thought I'd take care of some comments this morning. Problem is, after an hour, the PC shut down & restarted. This was a problem back when I was on Vista and at that time I thought it was a problem with that operating system. Based on some online research, it looks like it's a Gateway issue. Cute. Unfortunately, there's conflicting reports about what causes the problem. The leading opinion is that there's some chip that gets too hot and Gateway has gotten cheap and only put in one fan. After an hour, the chip gets too hot, the fans speed up and off she goes. Gateway issued a fix for the problem, but based on what I've read, it makes the fans inside the tower run high all the time. I really don't want that. Others have installed extra fans to keep things cooler, however, I know nothing about that kind of an operation. I rarely get inside the case. I know, bad computer girl. :P I'm not big on the hardware side of computers. Software, internet, stuff like that I'm good with, but the inner, deep workings of a machine is an area I tend to stay away from.

The real kicker is that this restarting issue has no warning (other than knowing you have 1 hour before it happens again) and sometimes it won't do it at all. I found this when I was on Vista as well. It's like that intermittent problem on your car - it's tough to track down.

Meanwhile, that annoying blue tint problem with the display on the MacBook Pro? Hasn't appeared in days. Weird. It just stopped doing it. Technology....I still don't get it.

I think I'll see how many comments I can reply to in 40 minutes. That's all I've got left. I'm sure the PC will restart again. *sigh* If it does, it might be time to switch back to the Mac for the day.

Edit: Yep, it restarted once again. I looked up the problem on Google again and someone had some success with fixing the Power Management settings to where Windows won't go to Sleep for 5 hours. It was set for 1 hour, so I switched it and we'll see if it fixes the restarts.

2nd Edit: Nope. That didn't help either. Time to switch to the Mac, I guess.
