This Week In TV: The Amazing Race

Nov 01, 2009 23:44

I'm woefully behind in these posts (by 2 weeks), so I'm revamping the idea and instead of waiting until the end of the week to post I'll do it day by day. I think this'll be much easy for me to manage. We'll see anyway. :)

Since I didn't get a chance to say it before: Hooray Lance & Kerri are gone!!!!!!!!! Woot!!!!!!!! :D
*ahem* Okay, on with tonight...

The teams headed from Dubai off to The Netherlands (who knew it was so darned windy there?) all on the same plane. First task is to count some bells and most teams breeze through it (mostly by helping each other). By the time Brian & Erica get there, she heads up to the tower and can't seem to get the correct count at all. Granted, she never gave up, so good on her.

The other teams went off to the Detour: dance & eat a herring or play some wacky golf with big clubs. Sam & Dan breezed through the golf and came in first, followed by Meghan & Cheyne, I believe. The Globetrotters equally did a great job with the dancing and it was too fun to see them showing off their moves. Gary & Matt started with the dancing, but then found out about the fish eating and switched to the golf and got through fairly painlessly.

Brian & Erica didn't read the clue and ended up trying to walk to the tasks instead of riding the bikes. *facepalms* Read the effing clues all the way through people! Gah! By the time they did get to the dance task they breezed right through and even though they incurred a 30 min. penalty for not using the bikes, they still checked in and avoided elimination.

Tiffany & Maria started at the dance, but couldn't get past the first task, which was to hit one of those bell things with the mallet (I know that's not a proper description, but I don't recall what the name of it is). Anyway, taking turns they couldn't get it high enough to ring, so they tried the golf. That didn't work either, so they returned to the mallet task and STILL couldn't get it (though they did get awfully close a few times). In the end they went back to the golf, but were so exhausted and cold (they had to strip down to their costume's underwear and swim across a stream to even get to the golf course!) that they eventually gave up completely and were eliminated.

I didn't like Tiffany & Maria at first, but they grew on me and I really appreciated how hard these two tasks were for them. They really stuck by each other and didn't fight at all (like most teams would), but instead took out moments to "hug it out" which was really sweet and a very friendship thing to do. I felt for them. They did give up in the end, but they were the last team anyway at that point, so it really didn't matter.
