Ten SPN Hurt/Comfort Fic Recs
Haven't done a post like this in a while. :)
You'll recall last week when I was trying to track down a certain fic for the end of 4x10? Well, I finally did find it on my own and since some others showed interest in knowing what fic it was, I figured I'd do a fic rec post. Most of these are older fics, but I've been going through FF.Net's SPN communities, trying to find hurt/comfort stories I haven't read yet.
We'll start with that 4x10 fic...

My thoughts: If you were dying for Sam to give Dean a hug at the end of that confession scene about hell, this is a wonderful fic for you. Dean resisting, feeling all unworthy, but Sam persisting and finally winning in comforting his broken brother. It's beautiful.
Begin To Make It Better by Zana Zira
From FF.Net: Tag to 4x10 - "Heaven and Hell": Dean is even more broken inside than he appears after talking about his time in Hell, and he does his very best not to reveal that fact to anyone. But when his mask of calm finally starts to crack, it will be up to Sam to put Dean back together again before he shatters completely. Written for a prompt on DA. My thoughts: This is another beautiful piece for the end scene of 4x10. In this version it takes Dean a little while to break down again and Sam ends up comforting him on the bathroom floor of their motel room. Again, lots of man-pain, tears, hugs, and Sam being there for his big brother. *loves*
Broken Soul by Alexandria M. R
From FF.Net: 5x04. AU. The brothers have been separated for six months, unbeknownst to Dean that in all those months, his little brother was being held captive by a group of hunters and tortured severely every day. When he finds that out, he goes for his rescue. And when he finally finds him, he doesn't like what the months of abuse has done to his baby brother. Brotherly love.

My thoughts: Ok, I'll confess that I actually read the last chapter of this fic first. I thought it was one I'd already read and needed to catch the latest update. I was wrong. I don't normally go for hurt!Sam fics, but this one is excellent! Poor Sam is really tortured badly and then you've got a massive amount of worried, protective, and caring Dean which is all kinds of awesome. I rarely cry over a fic, but the last chapter of this one had me tearing up it was so sad! Have tissues handy!!! I surely hope this author isn't done with this fic because it SIMPLY CAN'T END THIS WAY! Just sayin'.

My thoughts: More Dean torture! Sensing a theme here? *g* This is one of those fics that feels like an episode to me, with Sam doing lots of searching and research to try and find his brother in time and Dean chained up and suffering. It just has a big, episode-like feel to it.

My thoughts: Wonderful Dean post-hell fic that I must admit uses some Dean suffering that I was going to use for my own fic (that I've never gotten typed out). Lots of caring Sam in this one and Dean flashing back to hell and not knowing that his brother is even there trying to comfort him. Lovely stuff.

From FF.Net: Another TAG to Oh Brother Where Art Thou, and could even be a follow up to the one-shot I put up earlier tagging it. But it's not necessary to read both. What happens when Dean inevitably gets Sam out.
