A bit of unexpected fangirling on the subject of Marvel's Second Coming event

Jul 21, 2010 22:51

Marvel's big Second Coming arc recently wound up in a depressingly predictable way, and since, being me, I was planning to respond by writing fix-it fic, I figured I should probably actually read some of the issues leading up to the event so I could be sure to get my facts right. And I wound up enjoying the hell out of them. Like, could-not-put- ( Read more... )

fannish rambling, cable&deadpool

I don't have a lot to say other than I am sure I will read this at some stage!

But I do have to say that "y'all" is actually singular; "all y'all" is the plural ;P

Like you were sure you'd read xxxHOLiC at some point? =P I can get you a copy if you'd like to read it though.

But I do have to say that "y'all" is actually singular; "all y'all" is the plural ;P

I honestly can't tell if you're joking here or whether there's some real confusion over the definition.

I STILL HAVE EVERY INTENTION OF READING xxxHOLIC! :< And sure, I can add it to my pile of comics to read :3

No I swear to god I am not making this up. y'all is the singular, all y'all is the plural. Pinkie swear and this comes from Real Americans.

And you have had since about 07, IIRC. =P I'll pass them on to you next chance I get.

You know, I'm going to have to say the Internet disagrees with you on that one - and I'm pretty sure Americans aren't that poorly represented on the Internet that anyone else could be behind most of those links (sometimes quite defensively) insisting that 'y'all' is plural, and 'all y'all' is only used for emphasis. I don't doubt you might have heard differently somewhere, but it sounds like there is a vocal minority that use it as singular, and an angry majority trying to stop them doing it. ^^; (Including the first person I saw complaining about Rogue using 'y'all' as a singular some time back, without which I'm not sure I would have spotted it.)

there was a bit of a one-shot from pixie's POV interviewing some of the mutants about their reaction to Cable and Hope...did you happen to see that bit?

Uh, yeah, QC gave me a free copy months ago when I was there buying something else and it was up at scans_daily too - it wasn't hard to get hold of. Can't say I liked it much, since despite them being so carefully 'subtle' by not mentioning his name, it made it ridiculously obvious that Nightcrawler was the one scheduled to be killed off.
