You know, I'm going to have to say the Internet disagrees with you on that one - and I'm pretty sure Americans aren't that poorly represented on the Internet that anyone else could be behind most of those links (sometimes quite defensively) insisting that 'y'all' is plural, and 'all y'all' is only used for emphasis. I don't doubt you might have heard differently somewhere, but it sounds like there is a vocal minority that use it as singular, and an angry majority trying to stop them doing it. ^^; (Including the first person I saw complaining about Rogue using 'y'all' as a singular some time back, without which I'm not sure I would have spotted it.)
