Still no Internet connection from home, posting from work again. In theory one more week is supposed to be the longest they could take to get our connection sorted out, in practice... *gnaws fingernails

Wow. This chapter certinly packed a punch. The exchange between Watanuki and Doumeki conveyed so much and was so heartreanding. Fai curled in on himself, still holding the wire and his "they've taken the grils" was a striking image.
“It’s going to be the same one I let us go to trade with. The one where everything began.” I get the feeling he is not talking about the trading mission but rather something else with his whole 'where everything began'
And this was just amazingly done. “Do you blame me for this?” asked Kurogane at last.
Fye sighed. “No more than I have to,” he said. “No more than I blame you for bringing us all together, and giving us company we’d care for enough to miss and somewhere homelike enough that we’d stay long enough to be tracked down; for giving us anything worth having in this horrible world where no-one holds on to anything for long. No more than we all blame ourselves for not being able to stop it from happening.”Kurogane handled Syaoran very well. If Fai hadn't done what he'd done, and if

Thank you, it was one of those intense scenes I was dreading getting up to - especially when it all had to be seen from Doumeki's perspective it would have been so easy to overdo. I only hope I managed to do it justice in the end.
I get the feeling he is not talking about the trading mission but rather something else with his whole 'where everything began'Well, yeah - that would be the Complex project a a whole, not that Kurogane was explicitly clear on that point. More stuff to be explained in a bit more detail in chapters to come

Mmmm, I was talking about the sort of endings that aren't really happy, like character death or, sometimes worse, something happens to one of the characters and they can't get over it. I'm a huge pansy when it comes to those sort of endings and go into a big tear fest. I thought that was what you were referring to when you mentioned that it was going to be that type of ending. ^_~`
I've given them all a rough time in this chapter, though poor Watanuki may still have taken the worst of it. He's always been less flaily in this universe, and this was worse than even he's used to dealing with.
I would apologise for the depressing chapter, but, well, looks like it's had the effect I was going for. ^^;
Don't mind at all, it's always nice to hear people enjoy my stuff enough to track more of it down. ^_^ Sorry for the late reply here, Internet connection has been only sporadically available to me over the last couple of weeks, so I've been missing a lot more comments than usual.

That sort of ending?! Aw, great. I'm still getting over the last thing with that sort of ending. Damn my bleeding heart.
Looking forward to it anyway. X)

Fye's reaction broke my heart - the poor kids.
It's really depressing seeing Watanuki so broken, though completely understandable. I miss my unbeatable, flailing idiot. ;_;
