xxxHOLiC AU requests - first batch

Repeating what I said in my 'stuff in the works' post, I have been having terrific fun with these requests. There are *eight* different worlds mixed up in the latest pages of my notebook, none of them less than a few hundred words long. Since there's quite a few to get through, I'll be posting them in batches of a couple at a time as I get them all

Crack fic and AUs are the sort of stuff which are just kinda lame if written badly, but I've been through enough fandoms where there were so many terrific AU fics that I'm disappointed now to wind up in a fandom where there aren't any. Hence meme-age. ^^; And there *is* a lot of fun to be had in seeing how well you can keep all the characters recognisable in a different setting (and I swear, with Watanuki and Doumeki it's been almost too easy).

Tomoyo is quite terrifying in her own way, isn't she? A couple of people have pointed out the Himawari-similarity as well as the Yuuko-similarity now - no wonder Watanuki's so helpless around her.

I feel the trouble with leather restraints is going to be that he'd have to get Watanuki home *first*, or he'd be stuck trying to transport a barely-restrained Watanuki across town, and I don't think he's paid enough for that.

(Also, I have this image of Doumeki and Kurogane bumping each other when going to have a drink one evening. And having a deep and meaningful conversation in two sentences about life, the universe and tiresome idiots.)

XD So true! Now those *are* two characters I'd love to see interact a little. (Probably a very little, since two sentences does sound about all they'd need)

The only problem I really have now is that with how everyone keeps telling Watanuki that he's special and his existence is a miracle and stuff, I'm starting to think there's only one of him.

Y'know that same thought did occur to me - about him and Yuuko as well, since it stands to a certain level of reason there could only be one Witch of the Dimensions. But then I remembered the Horitsuba drama CDs - a *canon* alternate universe with all the holic/tsubasa characters! So all (to my mind at least) is conveniently justified. ^_^

I think it might work better on Watanuki

It *does*, that's the best/worst thing about it all. Yuuko drives him crazy, but with Tomoyo as his boss, he never even knows when she's being manipulative.

I should really see if I can get batch two up tonight, huh? ^_~

Just don't ever ask how long I spend going back and forth and dithering about whether the stuff I come up with could fit into canon sometimes. >.> Fanfic should not require this much research, dammit!

I know that feeling. Basically, batch two is almost ready to go up anyway - the only question is whether or not I'm up to much this evening, since I have a nasty feeling like I'm about to come down with what my Dad had last week. -_- Hopefully I'll hold out.

Hah, I KNOW! Naruto and Kingdom Hearts never made me do any research when I was writing for them, why does xxxHOLiC have to make it so hard for us?

And now my latest fic is making me hunt for rivers in Spain I can name battlefields after, research military ranks and command units, invent bullshit military tactics for use against giant, sentient bioweapons, translate several pages of Japanese from the series guidebook and dither for ages over whether character X should be able to use technique Y if we're setting this at point Z in the timeline. All for fic based on a bleeding fighting game best known for the fact one of the minor characters is a cross-dresser who fights with a yo-yo and a teddy bear!

*deep breath*

Haha! I hadn't even thought about Tomoyo's good 'ol camera getting involved, and yet that is so perfect! XD

Just, you know. Don't kill yourself. Fandom can wait a little. :3
